The bloke had some other incredible bikes. I went with my younger brother, who is negotiating for a 60s, a 70s and a 90s BMW. The latter one was Gus Kuhn's personal bike
I liked the 70s R90s in the candy paint, with a bit of fettling they would make a nice retro street bike
This has gone viral and is due to chart highly this week due to an appearance on Stranger Things. Came out nearly 37 years ago.
As opposed to half of Twitter being thirsty for Jennifer Connelly due to her appearance in Top Gun 2: Electric Boogaloo
As a TV show set in the 80s, you would expect 80s music to appear. However, a quick check on the season 4 soundtrack shows the track is played several times across all the episodes (which would explain why it might be getting traction in the charts) .
My mate Richie informs me that the 4 bands that he's walked out on previously were.... Boomtown Rats, Sham 69, Discharge....and Goldfrapp. Apparently, he was trying to get a young lady to give it up....but decided she wasn't worth THAT!
I let a girlfriend I was trying to get " better acquainted with" have my ticket for a Bowie gig so she could take her mate , turned out her "mate " was her next boyfriend
Goldfrapp !!?? Alison get preachy on something ?? Not playing any tracks from Black Cherry or Supernature ??
Has it been re-released fir the occasion? And incidentally, as this is a celebration for da Queen rather then the U.K, shouldn’t we be defacing the streets with German flags?
Saw this alternative band, Trope, supporting Pineapple Thief earlier in the year. Actually just an acoustic set of brilliant vocalist Diana Studenberg and guitarist, not full band. This cover of TFF Shout is excellent and the album Eleutheromania is amazing. Worth a listen
These lyrics were written by Weller 1984, they remain terribly relevant to the political world we live in today, Money Go Round is not my favourite Weller song by any means, but these words that were written and spewed through gnashing teeth in 84 I found strangely motivational at the time but the message has still got through 38 years later, no video the words are all that is required... It's no good praying to the powers that be 'Cause they won't shake the roots of the money tree No good praying to the pristine alters Waiting for the blessing with Holy water They like the same old wealth in the same old hands Means the same old people stay in command Watch your money-go-round; watch your money-go-round They got it wrapped up tight, they got it safe and sound Watch your money-go-round; watch your money-go-round As you fall from grace and hit the ground Too much money in too few places Only puts a smile on particular faces Said too much power in not enough hands Makes me think "get rich quick; take all I can" They're too busy spending on the means of destruction To ever spend a penny on some real construction Watch the money-go-round; watch the money-go-round They amuse themselves as they fool around Watch your money-go-round; watch your money-go-round Do like they say, make them vulnerable No good looking to the Empire corners "Civilization" built on slaughter Carrying hopes and carrying maps The spineless ones fall in their laps The brave and the bold are the ones to be fooled With a diet of lies by the Kipling school Watch your money-go-round; watch your money-go-round But I just can't help being cynical Watch your money-go-round; watch your money-go-round Do like I say, make me wonderful Their morals are clean and they are clear They bend your arm and they bend your ear Said they bend your mind as you talk in circles Bend over forwards, this won't hurt you Till there's blood in your lap; blood on your hands Watch the money-go-round; watch the money-go-round Come spend a penny, go out with a pound Watch the money-go-round; watch the money-go-round As you fall from grace and hit the ground (On the money-go-round, you wanna get on but it won't slow down) They need your votes and you know where to send 'em Be we don't get the choice of a public referendum On all the real issues that affect our lives Like the USA base to which we play midwife Take a cruise and forget this scene Said come back later when the slates wiped clean Watch your money-go-round; watch your money-go-round Born of woman, killed by man Watch the money-go-round; watch your money-go-round Do like they pray, make it wonderful The good and righteous sing their hymns The crimpoline dresses who have no sins Christians by day, killers in war The hypocrites who know what they're fighting for Killing for peace, freedom and truth But they're too old to go so they send the youth Watch the money-go-round, watch the money-go-round I don't think he was an astronaut Watch the money-go-round, watch the money-go-round I must insist - he was a Socialist!
Sorry to sound like a pedant but it was actually 1983. I know because I bought it when it came out, in fact I've still got the 12" white label promo for it purchased around that time from the small ads at the back of Record Collector! Have to say though that whilst I think it's a very powerful song lyrically speaking I always preferred the b-side Headstart for Happiness.
