Beddie’s goals earned us an extra 5 points this season. Got the winner against West Ham and Arsenal, plus one in the draw with Leicester. Also scored in the win over Brentford but we won by a margin. I also think he’s a good defender. Just being badly coached. I think under Mourinho at Roma he’d be great. If we can get a good defensive coach in then we should try to keep him.
Phil Jones, Bailly and Tuanzebe leavingt manU this window possibly. If he's fit, Phil Jones would be a good shout.
I'll pass on Phil Jones, unless he's replacing Stephens (and at a very reasonable wage and signing-on bonus). His body is about 80% surgical scar tissue at this point, and I don't think you can pencil him in for a regular role.
Yep. He's a gamble but that quality doesn't come our way without the doubts over longevity. See Danny Ings.
Bailly I wouldn’t mind taking a chance on, as ever with these sorts of players being off loaded by big clubs wages could be an issue.
That tends to be the issue with players available on frees: because you aren't paying a transfer fee, they command more in wages. Which is fine if they do well (your overall cost is still lower), but makes them damned near impossible to shift if they don't, as they aren't going to take a big pay cut to move.
Bailly allegedly has a sh*t attitude. Reports are that he kicked up a big fuss about being third choice CB at UTD, and demanded to play in their Europa League final a few years back, or he'd quit the club etc.
Fabrizio Romano @FabrizioRomano Stephy Mavididi could leave Montpellier this summer. Many clubs have approached his agents including West Ham, Brighton, Southampton, Everton and OM. #transfers Deal still at early stages but there are good chances for Mavididi to make his move in the coming weeks. 7:12 AM · Jun 3, 2022
Reports in Italy say we are close to signing Mattias Svanberg of Bologna. Spurs and Everton previously interested. Most probably bollocks.
Paying an enormous signing-on fee does make it easier to shift the player later, but most teams won't want to commit money they don't have to, either. I know very little about Svanberg, but his stats suggest that he does something virtually unheard of with a Saints central mid: he actually gets into the opponent's 18 yard area more than once every six months.
Have we been linked to him before? I recognise the link but don’t know if it is from a rumour or someone online suggesting him as a good idea
