Still contracted to Southampton until the end of the month. We couldn't officially discuss signing with us until today, IIRC.
Also allows us to plot with Romero and Lo Celso the most effective way to leave Chiellini face-down on the turf at regular intervals...
My heart says Spurs but tbh my head says Cardiff. If Wales qualify. If they don't I reckon he'll either retire or go somewhere like Qatar. They have excellent golfing facilities there. Yes, he's looked solid in one off internationals but the World Cup tends to be a step up from the Euros in terms of difficulty and games come thick and fast with very little rest in between. He'll want to be as sharp as possible going into the tournament for one last hurrah and the amount of playing time Spurs could guarantee him is minimal compared to Cardiff, where I assume he would play most if not every game and complete 90mins far more often. To me, the big mistake was not extending his loan for the 2021/22 season. Unless it was his own decision to go back to Real and put his feet up for a year, it made little sense us turning down that option (which was widely reported as being a clause in the initial loan agreement). Bale in front of a packed Spurs crowd is something I'd pay good money to see/hear, for old times' sake, but I can't see it happening tbh.
His pitch time would indeed be limited, but his presence, experience, (still) amazing ability AND his obvious connection with the club make this an absolute no-brainer for me. ENIC should build him his own golf course next to Spurs Lodge if it convinces him to return!

1. Whitewebbs golf course is not at Crews Hill. 2. If it came to it, I guess they could change the course route so that the start of hole 1 and the end of hole 9 (AFAIK the par is 2 x 9 holes) are physically closest to the Spurs training ground (400m odd) , with gates so Bale can enter/leave via tthat.
Xavi Torres claims we're looking to sign Clement Lenglet on a two-year loan So we have our backup if Inter plays silly buggers...
