That is some ******ed business nous there.
Raise a great talent, let him leave for free, buy him back for £100m, then let him leave again for free.
I mean, he never really was as good in the PL as he was for Juventus in Serie A, but still......
I always thought he was a tad overrated. He only ever had a handful of great games for United in what 5 years?

And this point the finger completely at where the issues with United actually lie.

I'm sure someone will (incorrectly) say we 'sold enough shirts' to cover all this ****e.

Yeah people dont get how Shirt sales work.
From what I understand, most often clubs get a fixed amount for allowing retailers to sell their shirts, they dont get commission.
Clubs agree a deal with the retailer, a deal that often lasts for a fixed period, like 5 years, the retailer pays that amount to the club as a one off payment, then the retailer makes most, if not all, of the money from the shirt sales, whether they sell 1 shirt or ten million shirts, the amount the club gets is pre-agreed.

I think we get 20% of all sales from Nike,, not sure how or when that's paid though, (lfc related sales of course)

I guess different clubs have different agreements with different retailers.
Usually a retailer will approach a club and say "We want to sell your shirts" the club will then say "We estimate over a 2 year period, you'll make £25 million selling our shirts, so give us £15 million and you can sell our shirts", and the club gets paid upfront. Then after 2 years they renegotiate another deal, like with TV rights.

i take it we all Ukraine tonight .

They'd probably be the easiest one for us to play against but I'd still prefer one of Wales/Scotland to qualify.

Wouldn't surprise me if Ukraine has a few dodgy decisions go in their favour tbh. Fifa would love to have the story of them qualifying for the WC with the conflict going on as it gives them a good story to sell.

Aside from the 21 season when Liverpool were missing half their squad through injury, Klopp has averaged over 90 points a season with Liverpool.
Not really a failing on Klopps part, more that he is competing against another great manager, with endless resources and a **** hot squad.

On the money ... without Citeh, Liverpool would have won 3 titles in a row and with breathing space ... hardly 'cup manager' form that <laugh>

very hard to conquer state funded teams
