Amortisation of players is usually over a 4 year period (average contract length) but it’s also subject to front loading.

Meaning the amortisation is released to the p and L over the course of a players contract. And as they stagger it eventually means that whatever you spend get released to the p and l.

So it’s a huge problem for an entity that has been slightly loss making. We have a head start due to Ashley’s reluctance to spend. Circa £300m. But once that’s spent it’s about being within our own means.

Thus it’s critical we uplift commerce by 70m plus from this season onwards or we won’t be competing anytime soon.

hence our **** upfront deal from crapore where we get larger % on shirt sales and our genius Saudi kit <laugh><laugh><laugh>

The Saudi kit is an excellent marketing tool. If they can get the sponsor right it’s a massive step up for commerce in saudi.

Problem is the PL and the salty tear brigade won’t like it. So will try and block it.

But here’s the beauty. They can’t: it’s a commercial master stroke and from a proof perspective it’s extremely easy to market and prove its bona fide.

Rumours now that it’s Saudi Welcome to Arabia and all their logos match the colours of our three kits

This would not surprise me at all and it makes total commercial sense. You can bet your bottom dollar the PL will try and block it but the reality is they can’t.

It will be commercially sound and at around £20 to £30 million would also be extremely good for us.

The possibilities with Saudi and PIF really are endless.

I'd sooner have diaby over paqueta really.

Diaby is a winger who can apparently play either side, can score goals, and would fit into our 4-3-3 system.

Paqueta is a CM, and we don't need another one of those as a priority.
