So what 20 teams would make up an ultimate PL 20? Not just on how much they’ve won but entertainment value, fan base etc. There’s a few not even up for debate, such as: United Liverpool Arsenal Chelsea Spurs Then ones you’d probably expect to see there based on rivalries and stuff: Villa City Leeds West Ham Everton Newcastle Then the beefy clubs: Bolton Sunderland Maybe teams who’ve never set foot in the PL: Millwall Luton Have your say but don’t just chuck your own club in there cos you like them.
Swindon Town Oldham Athletic QPR Barnsley Coventry Blackpool Bradford Charlton Ipswich Wimbledon Hull Blackburn Wigan Bolton Derby Cardiff Sheff Wednesday Portsmouth Reading Man United Get all the old classics back together. United would still win nowt.
I thnk it's more about the stature of the clubs, there are too many Vanilla clubs in the PL at the moment who bring nothing in terms of rivalries or huge support. Sunderland would be brilliant to have back one day.
Should only ever be 4 London clubs. Arsenal Spurs Chelsea West Ham The rest should just **** off and play somewhere else. Deffo needs a Sheffield club for balance so I'd say Wednesday. South coast maximum of one...so Saints get the nod or maybe they should have an annual play off between Saints, Pompey, Brighton & Bounemouth. North east can just have Newcastle. Deffo no Welsh clubs as no ****ing idea what they're doing in our Leagues anyway.
You'll have to remind me of the year Weadleston (Wealdstone ?) were in the PL. I must have slept through it.
Ah the halcyon days of my youth watching Spurs lose 6-0 to Sheff United. Jan Åge Fjørtoft and Peter Ndlovu ripping it at Swindon and Coventry. Spurs relegated Coventry as it happens. Would love to bring back all the teams I collected Merlin stickers for. Must have got Graeme Le Saux about two dozen times FFS.
Yeah, Sheffield has to have one. I'd say Wednesday too. Gonna go left field and say I'd like Rangers and Celtic in. That'll upset a few. Forest and Derby for sure. Norwich or Ipswich. Norwich are bigger. Only need one from Liverpool so go with Everton or Tranmere.
Friday nights at Tranmere under the lights would be good Can't ever see Everton getting that new stadium built so do them a favour and let them drop down a League.
Given it's Ultimate "Premier League" you'd start with clubs that have won it in the last decade ... can't remember whether United would make that initial cut ... then you look for other factors ... so start with Man City Liverpool Chelsea Leicester City ... Then on to looking at other factors
@Citizen Kane. put in Swindon, Barnsley, Charlton, Oldham Blackpool, Hull, Cardiff and Swansea before Leicester bro
Am I right in saying that you are of the opinion that Oldham and Charlton have never played in the PL? Tel in the OP asked for our thoughts on the 'ultimate PL 20', so I cast my mind back to the various loose ends that have made up the 50 teams who have competed in the PL since its inauguration. And yes, most if not all of them beat Spurs at some point during that time I was thinking about PL teams only, sorry if that wasn't clear from my post.
