Vince really let himself and the side down with the shot he played. At 3 down, for the captain to do that is unforgivable quite frankly.
Unless Fuller can start giving us four decent overs on a regular basis (and that isn't meant to sound like a criticism of his place in the team), I'm struggling to see what personnel changes we could make going forward. We're kind of stuck with having to do without any batting from no.8 downwards, because at best we can only rely on six overs from the top seven. I suppose you could suggest Holland or Prest for Wheal. Maybe between them and Fuller we could cobble together four overs. But I wouldn't be keen on that. You invariably win t20 matches these days by having good batters and/or the good bowlers, rather than bits and pieces cricketers. So all I can really suggest is that our top order get their act together with the bat, and fast. I think I counted a total of two 2s in that innings, which is shocking. We lost more people caught on the leg side boundary than that number of 2s.
If we had another 20 on the board, we'd still be right in this. 140 to 145 has been defended plenty of times at the Bowl.
It's weird to say when Somerset knocked us over for 123, but I think we marginally out-bowled them. Unfortunately they comprehensively out-batted us.
Yep, a really dismal effort from our top 6 all failing to make 20 and using up over 11 overs between them and only aggregating 53 runs. They have to improve massively moving forward. I'm really impressed with Fuller, who was the man of the match out of both sides, his bowling has come on leaps and bounds this season.
No Vince or Dawson in the ODI squad vs Holland. We've really struck lucky there! What with it being a rare away series during our summer (albeit a short series), it's not even as if the reserve players in the squad can be released to play for their counties on the morning of a match. Everyone on tour will be staying on tour.
Depending on when they leave and return, the series definitely clashes with our t20s vs Kent and Surrey - and potentially with our t20s vs Somerset and Gloucs and/or the four day game vs Yorks. Kent and Somerset have no-one in the squad (not even Billings). Surrey have Topley, Roy and Sam Curran named. Gloucs have Payne named. Yorks have Malan and Willey named (plus Rashid, but he wouldn't play in that four day game anyway).
I wasn't going to bother either. But as you say, that commentary was awful. So I've had to stick the online radio commentary on. Only requires about a 10 second pause to the YouTube stream to sync it up.
