They're going to use a Saudi sponsor. The commercial case for the PL is pretty clear - "there's a 35m population we can attract to PL subscriptions and Newcastle shirts, we need a leading Saudi sponsor as that's how it works out there". Then when the fee is high - "don't forget there's a WC in the Middle East this year, companies are desperate to be seen and heard ahead of it". It'll just need the PL to puff their stupid ****ing chests out and posture around a bit, before contacting their two bit lawyers who will say "yeah, don't fight that unless you want yet another massive bill. Oh, and by the way, every other club's owners is doing dodgy **** and pulling favours - you don't want any of that in the public eye". Genuinely I detest the state of football at the moment. The CL, the PL. Rancid.
To me........It smacks of a trainee being told to get the social media post ready and get on the standby button and they've hit post by mistake.
Dunno, i've just looked at the badge on the last current shirt i bought which was the thickish stripes when we finished 5th under Pardew, it has that white border but is actually sewn on, might be that.
I don't think that's the point though, someone just used them to do a mock up of a potential sponsor, they didnt claim they were the actual kits.
