I think Lenny was gutted that he had to go, but he wanted to stay in the Irish squad so he needed regular 1st team football and he wasn't going to be having that while Pennant was here. I do wish he would've stayed as he would be excellent competition for Pennant, don't blame him for leaving though.
Something happened Sarge between him and Pulis over that incident where he was supposed to have fallen over his dog. He fell out of favour then. He also was big mates with Beattie who at the time had fell foul of TP so I think he may have been shown the door like Tunny. Moved down to the championship was hardly going to bolster his international chances and I don't think he is currently in the squad anyway. Another top player that felt the wrath of the TP treatment methinks !
Yeah I heard loads of rumours about the dog story, one was that he injured himself falling out of a nightclub, whether that's true or not I don't know but I don't believe the dog story.
Sorry guys but I have to dig this one up again. Feel like Tony Robinson on Time Team. Its been a couple of games since the thread was generated but I still haven't seen him beat a man yet and there are many comments made by other posters pointing out that he is more consistent than Lenny. I can honestly see this turning into a KJ affair if things don't start turning around.
"So I broke into the palace, with a sponge and a rusty spanner, She said I know you and you cannot sing, I said that's nothing- you should hear me play piano!" I prefer Pennant, I like his pace and quick feet. Although Lenny was a better striker of the ball, and had a cracking free kick on him!
What I can't understand with Pennant is why he doesn't have a crack at goal more often? The only time he does is from a dead ball situation?
I'm sitting on the fence for this one, both players have good and bad points, Pennant doesn't attack the goal as much as he should, Lawrence didn't have the pace and wasn't confident in his ability to take on opposition players. Both players are good crossers of the ball and in the case for a decent right winger, Pennant is the better player but is too inconsistant, if he was good all of the time ARSEnil wouldn't have got shot of him. Liam should have been deployed as a central midfielder, he can pick a pass out, can read the game well and doesn't half strike a ball.
It's probably the reason why our midfield is non-existant to be honest Tom, you cannot limit midfielders to be only playing in sections of the park, it's not bloody netball!
Very true. I am an advocate of having someone patrolling the area between defence and midfield, but I also am an advocate of someone being allowed to get forward and pass the ball. What i'm saying is, let Deano do what he does best and play Wilson in his correct role, playing box to box midfielder and allowed to dictate play now and then. A pipe dream I know, but it's what I would do.
That would make sense though and we know that Pulis isn't one for making decisions that could influence our play, make us a better side and at the same time make a sensible decision that will impact the club in a positive way.
