Rothwell from Blackburn with Rangers, Fulham and Bournemouth interested. Not likely to happen with these other sides involved.
We'll never know what happens behind the scenes, but Tzolis seems to have been badly mishandled, being publicly humbled by Farke and then simply ignored by Smith. If (very big IF, I know) he goes on to be a world-beater, we are going to look very, very stupid.
I hope he stays and fights to get into the team he's still a kid , but if we get an offer close to what we paid and he wants out then so be it .
If he wants out, yes, I agree. No point trying to integrate an unhappy player. But wherever the blame lies, it's been yet another failure in a season of failures.
The one big knock on Farke, for me, was that he mishandled/exiled too many players. We could go through them and come up with reasons but it happened to often. Cantwell: attitude. Trybull: attitude. Drmic: ?. Klose: left then came back.
If Huddersfield don't win today, we should definitely be taking a look at Sorba Thomas! Looks an excellent player. Quick, tricky, 6ft 1 and strong, 3 goals and 12 assists this season and only 23 y/o. Especially if Tzolis goes!
It's interesting that all these players that weren't good enough for us have gone on to be massive successes away from East Anglia !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
Well surely if they weren't good enough he was right to write them off. Maybe they didn't like being told they weren't good enough and needed to work harder to improve, Maybe they didn't want to work harder or couldn't. Maybe they had reached their level and were only going to go backwards. Maybe their performances were effected by things outside of football and beyond Farke's control. It's the head coaches job to sort the wheat from the chaff, isn't it ? Or are you saying that Farke should have stuck with them even though they weren't good enough ? If so why ? The underlining message those that say Farke wrote off lots of players is that for some reason his actions were wrong, irrational or that he appeared to make decisions of some other reason other than footballing ones. You said Where is the evidence that he mis-handled them ? If it's the case and Farke was hindering their development or holding them back through mis-management, then why didn't they thrive when they left. How many of them are now playing PL or similar level football now ? How many of them are playing at a higher level than the championship. Farke consistently made the right footballing decisions, didn't he ? If not which ones did he get wrong and why ?
"The one big knock on Farke, for me, was that he mishandled/exiled too many players. We could go through them and come up with reasons but it happened to often. Cantwell: attitude. Trybull: attitude. Drmic: ?. Klose: left then came back." So which players were mishandled ? Perhaps you read something that Robbie might have posted ? No manager is perfect , but IMO Farke got it right more often than not.. Having gained 2 promotions to the Premiership,it is no surprise that during Farke's tenure, quiite a few players were moved on . "The point was that Farke wrote off a lot of players, not whether they were good or not." It appears to me that you were suggesting that some players were good enough , otherwise , what was the point of your post?
Of those players and Oliveira and Leitner as well, I'm not sure being written off necessarily applies. The HC has to choose the best team available to him based on ability, attitude and performances in training. Some, like Trybull and Leitner, were very good in the Championship but not good enough in the PL. Drmic was a free transfer gamble which didn't work out in the PL, though he did well enough in the Croatian league. Klose was excellent when he arrived, but fell away as he got older. As for Cantwell, he was given a starting place when Smith arrived, but if memory serves, was subbed off at half-time. Oliveira chose to publicly challenge Farke during a match, suggesting he knows better than the Head Coach.
I didn't say players were written off because they weren't good enough. You're the one who keeps bringing that up. To me, it looks like there were more personality conflicts between Farke and some players than would be expected. You might come back at me with "there were no more than other coaches have," with a couple of examples. It's not just personalities, though. It's also the public chastening of Tzolis, which I thought was wrong to do. I think he did that to another player, too, but can't recall who it was. There was Heise who truly screwed up in a pre-season game and I don't believe was never on the pitch again. And Giannoulis who was beaten on the left several times by Jesus early in the season. Farke didn't use him much after that even though when Williams came in Jesus did the same to him.
Yes, Mike. And what I'm saying is that It looks, IMO, like DF had lot personality conflicts with players or wrote them off for making bad or stupid plays. Drmic got a dumb red card in one game and that might have the end of him for Farke. I don't remember if he played after that or not. It was the same game Emi saw a red mist then a red card.
You said Are you then agreeing with me that they weren't good enough ? If so what is the issue ? Or are you saying Farke should have kept them even though they weren't performing at the required level ? If so, for what reason ? If they were good enough, why didn't they show it once they got away from Farke, who according to you was mis-handling them? Where is the evidence he mis-handled them ? Surely your point is that if they hadn't been mishandled they would have performed better, isn't it? For every player that according to you was mis-handled there are many more that thrived under Farke. Farke had a very strong set of values and a high work ethic, some players appear to have responded very well to this, others not so. Part of his value set was his strong belief in honesty and fairness, maybe some of the players didn't like him being honest or that he picked players on Saturday, that had shown during the week in training, that they deserved a place. Maybe players that thought they should just walk into the team because what they had done in the past didn't like it. No manager can keep everyone happy. This is true of even the best managers Ferguson, Mourinho, Guardiola, Klopp. I accept his style of coaching doesn't work for every type of player, no style does, but for me it says a lot that all the ones that didn't respond to Farke's style, don't seem to have found a style of coaching they like elsewhere. From what I've heard by far the majority of players appear to have been happy with the way Farke has handled them and there appeared to be strong squad cohesion even when things weren't going well. Even some of the players that Farke moved on had nothing but good words to say about his coaching, i.e. Jerome. You mention Klose left and came back, of course he did, that's what happens with loans. Interestingly FC Basel didn't want to buy him although he seems to have found his level at Bristol City. What was the fall out between Farke & Klose ? How did Farke mis-handle him ? From my memory Klose wanted to go to Basel, his boyhood club, and the club accommodated him. Farke publicly defended Klose (& Rupp & Dirmic) at the end of the 2019/20 season when many fans were slating him. https://www.pinkun.com/sport/norwic...nds-timm-klose-lukas-rupp-josip-drmic-1843078 Is this how a coach mis-handles a player. Isn't it odd that all the ones that Farke supposedly mishandled have struggled elsewhere and those that had nothing but good things to say about him have moved on to better things i.e. Godfrey, Buendia Cantwell's a good example. Farke developed him to a point where he was starting to look like a PL player and Cantwell was very complimentary about him. Suddenly for some reason Cantwell stops performing / developing on the pitch and all of a sudden it's down to Farke mishandling him. So what happens when Farke leaves Smith mis-handles him so he goes on loan to Bournemouth where he can't even get in a Championship team, did Parker mis-handle him ?
Huddersfield have confirmed that they have not taken up their option on Sinani, so he will return to Norwich. Given his handy record in the Championship, that feels like a bonus.
Could be an inspired loan move, if he nails pre-season and forces his way back in. Will be like a new signing.
