Looks like it. I don't doubt that he put loads of effort into his own game, but he never seemed to be communicating well with his team mates. Was there a language problem?

Well he ought to talk some English having played in the country for a few years and he would be playing with other French speaking players like Sarr and Louza.

Maybe with someone like Kiko though who I don’t think speaks the lingo .

Some might have been put out though that a new player walked in and was basically given the captains armband .

I think Sissoko strong powerful player but not going to dominate or control a game as you say .

He was probably just more used to playing at a higher level with better players. After playing & training together for a while, I don't think it's language that counts, it's being on the same wavelength as each other.

I might agree with the wavelength if I hadn't witnessed (and he was not alone in this last season) a number of wayward passes at key moments. I cannot recall the exact game, but I think it was Norwich, where he misplaced 3 or 4 five to six-yard passes in the space of about 10 minutes, coupled with an ability to miss-hit pretty much every shot he took. in terms of communication, I dont think I ever saw him rally the team when they needed it....my god there were times last season that i would have given my right arm to have someone like Deeney to drag the team kicking and screaming into some kind of preformance.

Can't say I'm bothered. Which, given his pedigree, is pretty disappointing and damning.

    Just 2 million for Zinckernagel.

Surely can get more than that?

According to the Mirror - but they don't say where they got that figure from. Out of mid-air I expect - and I doubt that our new manager has even had the opportunity to assess whether or not he wants him in the squad yet.

I wonder how much say he'll get but yes does seem very cheap unless we really want him off the books to make a profit.

I guess it also depends how long is left on his contract: if he has just one year left, then there's not so much value, as if we don't sell now, he could leave for free at the end of the season.

I'm sure he signed a 5.5 year contract in January last year - if so, it runs out in June 2026.

That makes the rumoured £2million fee a bit light on in my opinion.

Had injuries but been a good goal scorer for Reading when fit.

Two Joaos in the squad might too much for some of our 'fans' to cope with...

    Rumours, water testing, whatever next.
"Agents aren’t the only people to test the water via the media – clubs will do that too. I’ve ‘planted’ stories on behalf of players and clubs many times, and it’s often a case of using the media to see if something you hope might be possible can actually come to fruition."

The transfer window opens tomorrow. I think international clearance is July 1st mind, from the little I read.

Bet some players are more desperate to leave than those trapped in Fritzl's bunker!
