If both us and Chelsea continue to play the way they are playing now, we have a real good chance of 3rd. Liverpool cant score, Chelsea cant defend, and its only a matter of time till van persie gets his trademark injury which cuts his season in half. I know I might be getting over excited but ive just got a real good feel with the way were playing now, its our best start to a premier league season, and weve played liverfool l'arse manUSA and man arabia already the future looks good
How long before Villas-Boas is tipped for the England job? Because it won't be long before he'll have a lot of time on his hands and a hefty pay-out...
@ the OP... I was thinking exactly the same thing watching that game. Neither Chelsea nor Arsenal can defend for toffee! They could both be in serious trouble this season, if they keep playing like that. Did you like the way Arsenal celebrated at the end, like they had won something special The Spurs-supporting presenter on Talk Sport said, "I wonder when they are bringing the DVD out?" I nearly pissed my pants!
Terry obviously will not be focused on his game as normal, if his situation does slip his mind, all away fans will remind him. Its a good time to play Chelsea, even Ashley Cole keeps getting done, and Torres has gone back to type...****e.
Villas-Boas has to put some solidity back into the Chelsea side. Sticking David Luiz into the midfield might be a start, but the balance of the side looks all wrong, to me. Playing with two attacking full-backs and two out-and-out strikers is ok, but only if you have a very solid and compact midfield. Chelsea's looks completely open and all over the place. Sturridge isn't a right-winger, so asking him to play there is always going to put added pressure on Bosingwa, who's more comfortable going forward anyway. He's a young manager, so he's bound to make some mistakes early on, especially in such a tough league. The true test is how he reacts to those mistakes and whether he can keep the dressing room together through the hard decisions that he has to make. Could be interesting if this turns into a run of losses.
Let's win tomorrow first and then see how we go. It's not going to be easy getting fourth spot never mind third. I know it looks good atm but this is Spurs and we all know from experience what happens. I for one will not be celebrating or mouthing off until we have achieved something. Looking the part is one thing getting the part is entirely different.
It makes you wonder how long Tiote's going to be at Newcastle, to be honest. I'm sure that his performances haven't gone unnoticed at clubs with money and a big hole in front of their back line.
One thing we have going for us is Harrys ability to pick up the right players. IMO this is his strong point, he has proved that over a long career WITHOUT a large pocket full of cash. Dalgliesh has spent large already on some dubious players, SAF has always had the money, Abramovich has intervened with his wad a couple of times and bought mega star failures, Wenger looks good spotting youngsters but no so good with older players, Mancini has a bottomless pit. Harry comes out best in this very important area and with Levy holding the money we are unbeatable. What did I say about mouthing off
Chelsea were sniffing around in the summer, but rather than constant reminder about it from the Daily Mail, the trail went cold in a couple of days. And to think, we could've dumped Palacios on them at an inflated price come January...
It is possible we could get 3rd and also possible we could get 6th, we are playing well at the moment but as we all know with Spurs there is usually a slip just around the corner. Hopefully those days have gone and we can continue this run against some lesser teams.
Yep CB, for me yesterday's results were bad for us. I wanted a Chelsea and WBA win or at least draw. We have a chance of third spot, but an even stronger chance of not making the top 4 at all. I'd take 4th now, no danger, and I think Harry would too. One good sign was the appalling keeping by Cech, if he's on the wane that's a great boost for us. However, for us to finish above Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool is unheard of in the Prem (AFAIK), it's a massive ask.
He was. I'm surprised more people haven't picked up on it, put any of our 3 keepers in there yesterday and Chelsea win or draw at worst. I don't think it was even mentioned on MOTD how 'saveable' most of Arsenal's goals were.
If Boswinga's foul was red last week, that was surely a red this week. I guess it's a matter of interpretation of how 'clear' the goalscoring opportunity is. But I would say Cole's chance was clearer than the Rangers's player (SWP?) last week. Arsenal got lucky yesterday, but unfortunately the confidence has now flooded back into them, and they are very dangerous. The importance of our win over them may be absolutely massive come the end of May, I hope so anyway.
I'd take a scrappy 1-0 win against QPR today. Of course, a 5-0 win to go above the Toon would be most welcome
I think at Chelsea they are still getting used to the new formation and freedom AVB has given them and the fact that Terry,Lampard and even possibly Cech are getting to their sell-by date isn't good for them.As we all know if this continues for long the money will be made available in January. As for Spurs another must win game(aren't they all)will see us nicely in 4th or 5th or even 3rd with a huge win.But i'm sure we'll be happy with a 1-0.Lets just hope we don't make our usual slip up at some stage and a top 4 is very easily within our grasp.
Me too, and so would any sensible Spurs fan surely. I couldn't care less about going above Toon today, if we keep up the fantastic run we're on, we'll easily overtake Toon by December, let alone May. All about the three points today, though I expect that the team. being now rested. will really go for it. I predict a win, once I've seen the team sheets I might predict a score, though that is completely secondary to the result for me. Naturally I expect an attacking performance and outlook in line with our great traditions, and Harry's teams with us pretty well always oblige in that respect.
Yep Chelsea still faves for the top 3 for me too, and it looks like to me it was a bad result for us yesterday. One good thing though is that if Terry and Cech are in decline, simply throwing money at the problem might not solve it there, so integral have those two been to Chelsea's success over the years.
