The voters were responsible. Not saying there weren’t / aren’t faults with the Labour Party but voters being taken in by these Tories was a huge mistake. There are far more worrying features about this government they elected. The only working class communities getting help are the ones who voted Tory or in marginals. When they were Labour they got savage cuts and no hospitals or investment despite high levels of deprivation. It’s not ethical, moral it’s cynical but people blame the local authorities or public services for poor provision when it’s the central government grants that do the harm.

The electorate are always responsible for any government. That's why these "working class Tories" are tying themselves in knots trying to blame Labour or anything else for that matter, because they are responsible and they KNOW it. You get the government you deserve and this shower of **** is what the majority voted for.

Have to be honest. I voted Labour last time because where I live there is a very poor Tory MP (one who’s turned on Johnson to be fair to him) and only Labour would go close to unseating him. I also thought much of their manifesto was good enough. I probably preferred the Green manifesto and also could have voted Lib Dem based on policy. I wasn’t a fan of Corbyn and his clique. I think his little ideological clique weren’t the best people to lead the party. That put people off. I may have voted Green in another situation. Starmer seems more credible and business like and that should win a few back. What wasn’t right in my view was that people voted for another clique. Generally an elitist discriminatory clique who were also ideological. They are vile and anyone in a working class community thinking they care are throughly deluded. They care about power and wealth alone.

The elections bill was passed a couple of weeks ago and the requirement for ID was part of it. It's undoubtedly designed to weight election participation in the Tories' favour (see the demographics most likely not to have ID and who they usually vote for).

The most worrying part of the elections bill though is that it decreed that the Electoral Commission will no longer be an independent body and will instead be under the control of the Government.

There’s this, the bill that prevents protest and now the policy change saying that people lying to the House of Commons don’t have to resign. They are all very very worrying and anti democratic. Also the timing of the windfall tax announcement to deflect from Partygate is cynical. They are messing with us. They are a dangerous bunch and I’m very worried about where this will end.

Aye, the Crime Bill is rank too. We have the Lords to thank for that not being passed as yet but it's just a matter of time.

The complicity of the media (can't imagine what is in it for a load of billionaire newspaper owners to keep this lot in power) doesn't help either.

You don’t need to worry mate, I don’t think they will be bothering you after the next election, that’s when I start to worry though, never trust a government that wins by default because it certainly won’t be anything they’ve done

Sorry, what has Blair got to do with this?

I find whataboutism dull as ****.

For what it's worth Blair did have to cosy up to Murdoch and it helped him win the elections without a doubt. I don't know how many of the other big newspaper owners were owners in 97 and the early noughties mind. Pretty sure there weren't any ex-KGB agent's children owners at that time mind as they hadn't been ushered through at that point.

I believe it’s basically the same billionaire owners that kept the Labour Party in power, but no Labour supporters had a wrong word to say about them, then. Yet they seem to have now.

The sooner people stop buying Murdoch products the better. It’s shameful that they have so much influence over the result, largely with a headline - people don’t even read the rest

I'm confused as to what this has to do with anything, can you explain?

For clarity, I don't have a side. I favour honesty, integrity, common decency and competence. This means that I couldn't be less supportive of the current government. It renders replying to every criticism with 'whatabout Labour 25 years ago' etc pretty pointless too.

I don’t generally. There are a few I look at online including the Telegraph to try and get a balance from decent sources but I wouldn’t bother with any red tops. They’re absolutely ****e. I even know a Mirror journalist and barely ever read it, much to her disgust.,
