Not really they have rich owners and have won things like the European Cup. They're essentially chasing the same objectives as us mate.
wrong. their objective is clearly to throw lots of money at many players who will have little sell on value to chase short term glory in the next couple of years… a big financial risk. ours is to throw money at younger players who can be improved and who will still have sell on value at the end of their contracts… so we build slowly and sustainably.
I'm not wrong unfortunately jj The objective is to get in the top 4 and challenge. I've noticed alot of Newcastle fans that don't seem aware of the fact they had a super rich consortium but the club a few years ago now. They're simply ahead of Newcastle in their strategy and they'll be an obstacle and a big game for Newcastle and other clubs for the rest of our lives. They'll compete and so will nufc.
Unfortunately we can’t compete with bigger clubs like Villa. Howe needs to get the players to roll tha sleeves up.
It's like a royal rumble on twitter amongst the ITK accounts with them all calling each other out for pinching each others bullshit
agree. If the pay the earth and these old superstars don’t perform then all that cash is wasted and long term they have no plan B.
That has nothing to do with what their objective is their ultimate objective is exactly the same as nufcs. It's just fans not liking villa and looking to find something to be critical of. Nufcs owners have and will get the same thing over the years.
Kamara is young, Watkins in younger than Wilson... This is where nufc fans are failing because they seem to unaware that villa are years into their takeover and they've built the club to this point and now are taking the step and not the 1st. They've laid the foundations you lot just haven't noticed.
It may not have anything to do with their objectives but has everything to do with the likelihood of them being able to achieve their objectives and, therefore, the ability to compete over the full time period you mentioned.
I pointed out their objective is the same and was told I was wrong This is where the mental gymnastics comes in. literally looking for reasons to suggest that what they're doing this window won't work rather than accepting that Aston Villa are a big player now because they're one of the richest clubs in the world. Aston villa are years into their club changing takeover by a consortium worth around 18 billion! They haven't just rolled through the door and started buying old players. They've been building the club on and off the pitch and this is them adding a bit of quality to the foundations they've built already. Good for them it's the same for us but we're even richer and unfortunately only few months in not years.
Next season we could see a drop in performance under Howe. They certainly will actually because to maintain it would mean 4th, so I just hope fans don't start complaining 17th will do for me, but I would expect they'll end up around mid table maybe a touch higher If recruitment goes well.
I haven’t said you were wrong I was simply pointing out that it appeared a more short term approach and, IMO, less likely to succeed long term. Watkins isn’t in Wilson’s class. Yes Kamara could be a good buy but they are splashing a relative lot of money on older players without having a good crop of up and coming players who could replace them in 3/4 years. Not mentioned yet is Digne who is almost 29yo (in about a month) being bought to replace Targett who is 2 years younger. I don’t see decent promising players except Kamara being bought by them for the future. Their u23 team are in the PL2 and actually finished below ours and 10th of 14. Their u18 team were 12th of 14. Hardly signs of foundations being built for the future. As they are 2 to 3 years ahead of us in ability to plan for the future it would appear that they have wasted that time looking at their various teams results and corroborated by the fact they’ve changed manager mid season. As Chippy said they have a plan A but no plan B. If plan A doesn’t work then it will take them ages to regroup.
Again you're just looking for reasons to dismiss your real concern which is villa being good. I hate Aston villa, but they've got some decent players in all age categories now and they'll be a threat and a problem for us for sure. Wolves villa still Everton and of course Leicester will be our immediate opposition. I'm more interested in enjoying Newcastles journey and listening to other fans telling themselves our attempts to compete won't succeed.
