You've got to admire Wrexham. They just try to outscore the opposition. They've had some incredible results this season including a 6-5 win from being 2-5 down!
A devastating season end for them. Positive - their fans with Wales tickets for next Sunday won't be trying to sell them, thus stemming the possible JB (Jock b*****d) black market. Should they beat Ukraine.
I dont think its deliberate Cling. Theyve spent loads for the division they are in and cant defend for sh!t. Great entertainment but theyve blown it.
You're probably right Hilts. I'm just a bit of a sucker for a team that scores loads even at the expense of a defence. I'm sure they'll work on getting a Vance next season.
Wrexham v Grimsby was a staple football league fixture back in the day like Halifax v Aldershot or Notts Co v Chesterfield These days it’s Harrogate v Morecambe or Crawley v Stevenage Back in the day those places were just places your grandparents went on day trips to
True, there was no auto relegation to non-league. The status of the bottom club was voted on by the rest of the league clubs so a club could be bottom and get re-elected, if their directors knew the right people. This changed in 1987 when relegation to and promotion from the lower national league started.
You’re right. I can only think of one or two going out of the league before it became more open - Barrow & Bradford Park Avenue. I was too young when Accrington Stanley went out & only Masky was around when Aberdare dropped out ps Fair play to the said Barrow & Accrington S who made it back
Newport managed to get re-elected at least once. I think Accrington went out early 60's as they went bust mid-season. March 1962 to be precise.
I do recall Hereford getting voted in by a small majority and, I think, they had a hell a marketing drive which involved giving Parker Biros to the other clubs. That was the BIG time for sure!!!!
It’s been a bad period for Wrexham with their cup final & play off defeats and losing out to Bradford as the UK Culture City. Not sure how they were in the running as it’s not got any culture. Mind you swansea tried as well a few years back and apart from their caravan museum there’s not a lot to visit there, but unsurprisingly lost out [to Coventry].
