Burnley are in deep **** due to some financial shenannigans which I don't understand, but seems similar to the sleight of hand performed by the Glazers. They were always a very prudently run club until the new owners took over, but could well be the next club to hit the buffers. Sounds familiar? Especially sad for their fans, who were instrumental in helping us demolish the famous Sofa.
A good bunch the Burnley fans. A proper Club with wonderful history. Very sad to hear if their new owners have messed everything up. The football Authorities have got to sort out this whole issue of dodgy owners. I though Boris said there would be some reforms of football after that Super League fiasco. Or was he just jumping on the bandwagon? Surely not!
Well done the French Champion's League Final now delayed by a total of 45 minutes. They couldn't organise a wine & cheese do. They're a bit too cosy with Putin as well. It has been noted. UPDATE: Now it looks more like a 1 hour delay is likely. French police have started attacking fans with pepper spray. Not rioting fans - fans who are queueing peacefully. Good grief What a fiasco. UEFA and the French Rozzers are embarrassing all European football. They'll be laughing their arses off in the Kremlin. UPDATE 2: The match has kicked off at last, but with thousands of fans unable to get into the ground. If a large number of fans with legit tickets are going to miss this game it's an utter disgrace.
Yep that’s what I’ve heard - imagine turning up with a legal ticket and being locked out …. Think I’d be a bit peeved to say the least !!!
The French Authorities have buggered everything up again. They've got the Olympics in Paris in two years so I understand. This isn't exactly a great demonstration of their ability to marshal large crowds. The Champion's League Final has been tarnished by their bungling.
I enjoyed the La Liga statement that PSG were in debt but continued to pay over the odds for players (where's financial fair play? sort of thing). FC Barcelona are hugely in debt but continue to offer over the odds saleries, while Real Madrid will continue to pay over the odds for any player to stop them going to Barcelona, and also continue to promote the idea of a super league in order to corral even more money into the hands of the greedy few. Meanwhile, BBC world this morning were talking about football finances and let sli that both mam City and Chelea have literally run up billions in debt over the past three years. They're all at it, and while they do so, they are happy to see a club like Bury go to the wall, It gets to the stage where a word like 'greed' simply doesn't do justice to the utter avarice of these clubs, who are then, like Madrid and Barça, reduced to the level of miserable neighbours calling the police for any sort of percieved misdemenour to be annoying. I assume La Liga made this statement to keep Madrid happy, but why would they - Madrid and Barça are still saying they want a super league in Europe, which will hugely damage the prestige of the Spanish league.
Not surprisingly, the papers today are showing that the French authorities are blaming the supporters. Absolutely disgusting.
Apparently there is a well known English (Charlton) football forum which agrees with the French authorities, goes even further.

UEFA says "oops, sorry..." https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/61686639 As if that makes everything all right again. Ruining the day that thousands of fans waited for and paid huge sums to go and enjoy. The Russians would have done a better job of hosting it. And that comment is supposed to hurt the incompetents who organised that day, and the moronic French Police.
You can get a S/T to watch Premiership football at Forest for £150; or pay £160 to watch a day's cricket at Lord's.
Are the wheels coming off Gareth's footballing caravan of love? https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/61693280 Beaten by racist pals of Putin, oh dear. Going to have to better than that in Qatar...
