Does it say a lot that my immediate thought is that Paratici has got Perisic in a holding pattern so if Kostic is a non-starter we can simply sign the dotted and get that sorted?
I'm with you mate, would be over the moon if we got Persic. Yes he may be 33 but he's showing no signs of slowing down , he's just finished another fantastic season in Milan. Croatians are made of sterner stuff. Wonderfully versatile, still got decent pace and his quality is for all to see. Him and Sessegnon could rotate perfectly and Sessegnon would have a perfect mentor. If we could get Bastoni in too that is a formidable left hand side - Bastoni, Peresic and Sonny. Fingers crossed he signs.
If we could get Djed Spence in on the other side competing with Doherty then we would have 4 great and different options at WB. If Spence costs £15m as reported and we offload Emerson for similar we have vastly improved on that position and not even dipped into our kitty.
I have a feeling we’ll try and get both and if we do, Perisic will potentially be used as a RWB rather than LWB. Kostic and Perisic on the wings? It’s football crossing porn.
He can also play further forward on either side if we needed to rest/rotate. I didn’t realise how good his left foot has gotten tbh but he’s a bit of a Sonny now, almost doesn’t have a weak foot. If we sell Reggie and Emerson and buy Spence and Kostic and Perisic then we have an experienced and a younger option on each flank with Perisic to also play on either side or as a winger. I think it’s a lot healthier in terms of depth in the WB positions than we’ve been this past season.
Yeah his age doesn’t bother me at all. I’ve said for a while now that footballers aren’t slowing up once they hit their 30s like they used to 10 years back. Two year deal is perfect. As I said to HBIC, if we try and sign both he and Kostic then Kostic would have Sess as his understudy and in an ideal world we sell both Doherty and Emerson then have Perisic with Spence as his understudy. Think Bastoni will depend on how much Inter want Bremer. Be a very good signing if we pull it off though.
I think he’s got one of the best left pegs in the game and he ain’t even naturally a lefty! True say on playing further forward too, if we sell Bergwijn and possibly even Lucas then he’ll add great depth up there with Son and Kulu. Just feels like an absolute no brainer of a signing if we can pull it off. Hopefully the Conte factor plays a big part.

If rumours are true regarding Forster and Perisic, it’s bloody wonderful that we’re doing business this soon after the season has finished. How many years have we been saying “the new signings never get a preseason” or “we always sign players after the season has started”. It’ll be really interesting to see how this impacts us next season if the majority of our signings are made early on.
I hope Los Ladrones or Barca didn't offer him a contract, the sniping from La Liga would get old fast...
