RIP Alan White Yes drummer for 50 years and before that John Lennon's favourite stickman (Imagine amongst others) He has only been sharing the Yes slot in recent years due to health issues and his participation in next month's tour was cancelled last week. I can never remember if that was Bruford gigs on the trilogy. AW was recruited just before the Tales tour if I recall. Play it safe and go for Yesshows
Bruford played on a couple of tracks but I think Alan white played the best part of the album, I remember blowing a weeks wages on that triple album , I've got it on CD but the vynyl is where I go for the nostalgia, do you remember the OGWT special on the show ,thought I had died and gone to heaven, 1st time I saw them live was the topographic oceans tour, wow was I pissed off with that show
Lol...yes I do. OGWT and BBCR4 'Sounds Interesting (Derek Jewell) were my go-to progs for prog! Funnily enough, although I had heard Fragile and CTTE, Tales was the first Yes album I bought. I loved it - no matter how flawed it was! But my first live gig was the '75 QPR Relayer tour. The sound was monumentally awful, but the stage show was incredible.
Yeah, but it's usually the ones ending in a '0' that get to you... Once you're 60, 61 and 62 are no sweat...and the alternative to ageing ain't great.

Btw whilst we're doing musicians taken far too soon I don't know if anyone on here noticed that Cathal Coughlan passed away on May 18th aged 61 although I only heard about it on Tuesday! "Cathal who" you say and in all fairness both Microdisney and The Fatima Mansions were never going to set the world alight but Microdisney will always have a special place in my heart and for awhile in the mid '80's while they were signed to Rough Trade they did have an edge to them that The Smiths never had. Maybe it was the fact that Cathal and Sean O' Hagan were from Cork and consequently always viewed as outsiders by the music papers at the time. Anyway they briefly reformed for a couple of gigs in 2018, one in Dublin and another at the Barbican which unfortunately I missed as I didn't hear about it until after it had taken place although thankfully I did see them live plenty of times back in the day! So this is a chilled version of their 1984 single Dolly without the rest of the band
