Samba Hoilett Bendnter Cisse How about that? I'd love it. Question is who shall I be forcing these players on? Bruce? Or a new manager?
Doubtful... If I was Short , I would be thinking , ****ing hell Brucie , I've spent millions on players for you and it hasn't worked out. Closing the tap now , get your **** together with what you've got. Or buy with money you get from player sales. What you're asking now is the following : Samba 10-15m Hoilett 10m Bendtner 8m Cisse 10m I really doubt you'll spend nearly 45m in January. He'll probably set his sights on one striker and a cheap but solid defender.
Bent.....approx £20m Hendo...approx £20m Ferdi.....approx £4m chops....approx £4m Waggy...approx £3m Gyan.....approx £6m + a few more.. Got a few bob back though.
I think Bruce is about 7million down from when he became manager of Sunderland, but that was before the Gyan Loan, so if 6 million for that is correct, then only 1 million down since he came to the club. not bad if you ask me. this is why i dont get the he has spent millions and got you nowhere, Pullis at Stoke has spent millions, he has an 80 million deficit since he got them in the PL (yes they have Europe so maybe justified) Moyes i think has the same if not more than Pullis since he got taken on as manager, yes they get top 7 year in year out, but he hasnt exactly took them any further, but he is seen as a saviour on here by most. I am not saying he hasnt had cash to spend, of course he has, but he has had to get rid of most of the staff that Keane brought in to do it, and got good prices for them as well (or someone did). this does beg the question of whats the point of having a billionaire owner if he wont/cant put cash in, but thats probably a discussion for another thread lol
For all his flaws (and he has a few) thats pretty good going. Now if he stops trying to build a new team every year, just adds 3/4 bits of quality as OP says we will be looking mighty fine.
Stoke may well be in Europe but that Europa league thingy money is pish. Boro had an extra 22 games to play for a couple of mil.
Yes they wont get the 80 million back from that competition, but being in the competition can get you the "better" players (i use that in the loosest term possible), do you think Crouch or Palacios would have went there if they didnt get into Europe, pretty sure that was a huge selling point, but if we could get intto that competition, we could then get the next calibre of player, get more revenue, get more recognition, become even better. as for the building a whole new team every year, he had to this year, as last year/year before he sold too many players, and got too many players in on loan (5) Mensah didnt really cut it last season, at least not as much as he did the year before, Welbeck we were never going to be able to sign, Nedhum his mother has cancer, not sure what is happening there, but not really ours or his fault, he loved it here and i believe he would be a Sunderland player if it wasnt for that, Elmo the jury is still out on him, but better to have him than have no one (just most would say), Muntari just never cut it for whatever reason so we sent him back before the clause was triggered. Funny thing is if short have give the club an 80 million no interest loan in 2010, that wouldnt have went on the FFP, if he had done it this year, it would have done, and our turnover is crap, we spend something like 54 million on wages, turnover is something like 65 million total, so that leaves 11 million to spend on players and wages every season (if we dont sell anyone) it just cant be done to improve the squad. anyway got to jump back onto linux from windows 7 so i will stop there for now.
