Overhaul of the coaching staff was one of the bullet points on Dan Sheldon’s article about revitalising the club. They are not messing around. It’s May 25th and they’ve binned three of the most senior, longest-serving coaches. That statement sounds like replacement staff soon to be confirmed too.
That goes some way to placating me I have to say, I was really worried that heads were in the sand. This shows that not to be the case.
If we get these coach's right, and I'd like to think we will bring in a proper number 2 to Ralph, that'll revitalise Ralph as much as the playing squad. I can imagine It has been very stale for sometime.
I think the board sat down and came to the conclusion they had only 2 viable options. Either sack Ralph and start afresh with a new manager. Or fully back him with a first class coaching staff and proper financial support in the transfer market. Seems clear they have chosen the latter. This will mean however that Ralph will be under greater pressure than ever as Saints boss. Survival alone wont be enough next season.
This. As far as I'm concerned they've chosen the right option and the one that is more likely to be successful IMO.
I can imagine they will be targeting top 10, that is going to be very difficult with rhe teams in around those places.. you can't imagine Leeds or Everton will be down the bottom again either.
Wonder who the club will bring in... Could be coincidental that Stuart Pearce no longer works for West ham...
Hmm, Im not so sure. I think Leeds will be very much in the relegation battle next season, especially if they lose Raphina and Philips. As for Everton, I doubt they will be in the relegation battle but by no means will they be a cert for top half, or even top 12. It depends on how bad their finances really are too.
That's the assumption being made by you and others and l don't have an issue with that, but this could be the first step.
Think if RH was going they would have sacked them all at once including his assistant manager. Plus can’t see us organising already a pre season camp in Austria, playing against the team his son plays for, if he was going. Would like to have been a fly in the room when this was all put to Ralph.
I don't disagree with your assessment. It also serves as a warning to Ralph; e.g. "you have not done a good job with the coaching staff, so hire more than fits your requirements because we are running out of options not to sack you".
