Well yes and no. "Disastrous" is a very big word that would imply we got relegated, at a bare minimum, and more likely came bottom. We came 15th. If the whole season had been like it ended, then yes, it would have been disastrous. If we'd had Manchester City's finances and come 15th, you could probably say that was disastrous too. For us to come 15th, calling it 'disastrous' isn't an opinion. It's just wrong. Saying it's "another" disastrous season is definitely wrong.
Ok we where extremely lucky, how's that. Yes Kompany maybe relatively inexperienced, but he knows the Premier League, has the contacts and has done a good job in Belguim.
Guys. If the clubs pyhlosopy is to develop youngsters and sell them, then why not do it with the coach? However, I don't agree with what that's what they want to do
How? His playing days are behind him and he is pretty unproven as a manager. He has failed to win the league with Anderlecht who are traditionally the biggest club in Belgium. Indeed the league was topped by a newly promoted side this year as far as I understand. I don’t think that says much about him really
Is it a guarantee that he will be able to coach a defence. I’m sure that is the case in theory. But in practice? How have Steve Bruce’s sides done defensively ?
Just play along. So if they do sack Ralph. (Sounds like it won't happen) who do you think gets the job? Who will Saints attract?
Not hanging around either. Club recognises things haven't been anywhere near good enough for a while. Confirmation that Ralph is safe if they was any doubt.
Shame about Kelvin but only for sentimental reasons, would have been nice to have him around as you need people who genuinely care for the club but I suspect he wants to be a proper coach so fair play to him. It was a pretty amateur set up tbf, lets bring in experienced coaches as well as an assistant manager. I think this is a step in the right direction.
Obviously it's not nice for someone to lose their job, but this seems like a very positive move going forward. Positive and swift.
