Work should start on extending ER now shouldn't it? It wS said last summer that getting into season 3 in the prem means work can start as funds are guaranteed. Lets see if the yanks carry out their promise?
There's usually middle ground isn't there. Bielsa had approved Aaronson. So he wasn't point blank refusing anyone. There's also the 'better than we have' criteria - does that mean better in the long run or 'better' for us at the time? Let's take Van De Beek. Better player than we have. Hard to argue against that. Fit enough to play Bielsa ball and get the system from the off in time to influence the season? Maybe not. So duracell bunny, hardworking, press-playing Aaronson gets the nod. Silky playmaker carrying a bit of timber doesn't. So the board saying Bielsa turned down players is probably true... were they players that were better than ours (apparently the criteria) ... winks, van de beek? Again probably true. Would Bielsa have actually played them though? Maybe by April if they worked hard

At full strength, I'm not sure Winks and De Beek are that much better than Phillips, Forshaw, Rodrigo and Dallas. Very much of a muchness. The main issue in January was not acknowledging the fact that we were just short of numbers. Everyone was injured or suspended. We didn't know where covid was going. It was straight forward to think we should get a couple of players in just to fill in some gaps. I picked a couple out in John Swift who was going cheap and would have added depth to our midfield. 6 million would have got him. The other was Welsh striker Kieffer Moore who ended up at Bournemouth for 6 million. A big but mobile striker who has a good touch and brings others in to the game. That would have been 12 million spent and we would have easily avoided relegation. The fact we didn't add numbers was a huge mistake.
Llorente called up to Spain squad. Phillips in England squad. I'm annoyed that Phillips is called up. He's just back from injury. Give him the summer to recover.
That reads that any actual construction is minimum two or three years away. Why hadn't Design work planning etc not all been done long before now. There will always be a risk of relegation so is that another reason not to start construction. I think it’s nothing but a pipe dream to be honest
Yep. England play; Hungary (a) 4th June Germany (a) 7th June Italy (h) 11th June Hungary (h) 14th June Home games at Molineux but Italy match behind closed doors as punishment for Euros final fiasco. Final 2 fixtures then played 23 & 26th September.
My biggest mistake was going to elland road in 68/69 and the love affair that followed which on numerous occasions has brought nothing but heartache .....but it's all part of joining an exclusive club of devout cultists who blindly follow the call
Spot on Emu because in Bielsaland in an ideal Bielsa world those players would not start for the first team next season. You just know Bielsa has autistic issues and his head would explode if he allowed lesser players to come in, even though the logic of doing it would mean survival. Therein lies the problem because everything Bielsa says is literal and exactly what he means and does.
