This is exactly where our debate went Totally in agreement with this only issue would be is that games against Atletico and Everton would be day/night affairs
I've had a quick look at the FA rules about added time and it doesn't mention any specific time to be added on for each incident eg 30 seconds following a goal or 15 seconds for a booking. It's at each referees discretion. More time can be added than is displayed on the board the 4th official holds up but not less time.
I watched a pod cast a few weeks ago that had Mike Dean on it, when asked what measures could be taken to improve reffing and help refs do better the 1st thing he said was take the time keeping out of their hands completely, he said it was often a distraction for refs with so much going on in a game that at times they completely lose track of what added mins should be applied. It made sense to me, leave the added mins and time keeping to a seperate ref or var and let the ref ref the game.
Well rugby doesn't stop time for everything. Just important to note that. I would want slow keepers and floppers punished better. Breaking up play is still a big incentive. Look at richarilson clearing a header, running out tobavoid offside issue then flopping over cos we have it. He should have beennoff for 10m8ns for hia Foden coming back on, flopping over in cl. Its all to break up play.
Pick your all time liverpool 11 on bbc. Impossible job. I don’t really remember half over half of them so kind of gone in what I’ve known. ————Clemence TAA Hansen Thompson Neal ——Gerrard Souness Suarez Dalglish Barnes ————-Rush
Im not even going to bother trying too difficult. I'd 100% have Hansen & VVD at centre back though. And agree Suarez, Dalglish, Souness, Barnes, Rush and Gerrard are MUST picks imo. Only fullbacks and keeper left Can't help but think of the players missing; Alonso, Torres, Owen, Fowler, Hyypia, Carragher, Neal, Keegan, Toshack, Aldridge, Thompson, etc. Hughes!!!
Mist admit I got so caught up on the old players that I forgot about vvd Just the amount of trophies won by the players back in the 70s and 80s is mental though.
I'd get stick for picking Rob Jones and Steve Finnan at FBs I idolised Jones as a young teenager, probably because I played RWB a lot and he was quality at the time. Loved Finnan for his consistency and even to this day I say day he was the best crosser with his wrong peg. Loved Grobs too Although, if it was which players we loved most than 100% Fowler is in there. Plus you'd pick Biscan!
Alisson. (Even old folk should see this is the best ever keeper. Ever.) Neal (22 in 11 seasons.**** off trent) Hanson Vvd Nicol (impossible to leave out) Souness Gerrard Barnes Rush Dalglish Salah. Impossible job there so really it's all opinion. For example imo suarez can **** himself the selfish twat. Barnes was my hero and I went 424 there just cos. I actually thought about 433 and getting alonso in there but how do you leave out rush. I could pick a second 11 that'd be ridiculous as well
Was neal a RB? Thought he was left. Prob ****s up my choice in that regard. When did keepers start wearing gloves? Guess have to weigh that up when comparing old and new keepers, but also back pass rule makes it harder for current ones.
Yeah favourites I’d have Fowler 100%. Was my idol growing up despite being a left back in my youth lol. Biscan might sneak onto the bench if allowing 9 subs
Problem with these is, it depends on your generation. My dad for example would pick players like Hunt or Callaghan or Yeats (who was a friend of a friend with my dad's parents) I think alot of the older greats will get lost in this kind of thing as alot of the fans who knew them have died now.
I started following Liverpool in the 90s, so I haven't seen most of the greats in action. Given that the current team is by far the best we've had in that period, I'd start with that and just change the odd Player like e.g. Hyppia, Gerrard and Alonso. Fowler and Torres were also great but wouldn't fit the system as well.
Neal was the ultimate right back with 4 European Cup medals. Nicol was also rb but played lb. I couldn't leave him out. Keepers have had gloves of one sort or another since at lead thre 70s?? It doesn't matter. Alisson is the best. period.
