This is a very solid move and secures our GK situation for another couple of years, assuming Forster signs a 2 year deal and Hugo sticks out the rest of his contract.

If we can get Eriksen back and even give Bale a home for another year (obviously depends on Wales qualifying for the WC) then we’ve plugged some holes in the squad without spending a penny on fees, and added a ton of experience to the side in the process.

Don’t expect much from him and I’d have preferred Johnstone but we’ve always done well when signing players from Southampton so hopefully he’ll follow suit and provide decent cover.

Cover, experience and a positive voice in the dressing room. It’s why I was happy with Gollini, as he’s clearly a smashing lad and I didn’t think he was as awful as some made out.

His experience isn’t exactly overly inspiring though. Lost his place at Southampton numerous times. He’s cover though and HG but I very much doubt he’ll play much so long as Lloris remains fit.

As for Gollini, I don’t think he’s a bad keeper by any means but it can’t be denied that he had some very shaky performances. In 10 games there were about 4 iffy displays from him. It’s hard for second choice keepers to ever impress but he didn’t really take his chances too well. Probably done more for the club behind the scenes than he did on the pitch and there’s a decent argument to say that was enough for a cheap loan signing.

I'm hoping he's 3rd choice and we grab Pope or something.

Cant see Pope joining unless he’s guaranteed the number one spot - which he won’t be.

Mike McGrath also talking about Forster, he’s been bang on the money on most Spurs transfers over the last couple years.

Asked on the Saints board how **** Forster is and if we’re making a mistake, got these responses:

He’s enjoyed sitting on our bench for about 8 years and is fine as a backup keeper.
We paid him a ridiculous amount of money, too much for a a No.2 keeper, which is where some fans have taken issue.

Agreed, he’s a decent back up for Spurs. Problem is we put him on a stupid wage that was totally out of whack with our club.
No chance we would renew that contract, and rightly so. I wish him well but we need to sign a first choice keeper that is better than him & McCarthy and relegate one of them to second choice if we want to progress

It's that time of the summer again where other club's misfortunes are our potential gains, and today I'll start with teams which have been relegated

    Alaves
...bit of a write-off, half their first team were loanees

    Arminia Bielefeld
Patrick Wimmer (20yo, RW, Austria, contracted until 2025)
Masayaku Okugawa (26yo, AM, Japan, contracted until 2024)

    Arsenal Tula
Just using this as an excuse to use the words "Arsenal" and "relegated" in the same sentence

    Bordeaux
Hwang Ui-jo (29yo, CF, South Korea, contracted until 2023)
Jean Onana (22yo, DM, Cameroon, contracted until 2026)
...and the rest of their useful players were loanees

    Burnley
Dwight McNeil (22yo, LW, England, contracted to 2024)
Maxwell Cornet (25yo, LW, Ivory Coast, contracted until 2026)
Nick Pope (30yo, GK, England, contracted until 2023)
James Tarkowski (29yo, CB, England, out of contract this summer)
Aaron Lennon (35yo, RW, England, out of contract this summer)

    Cagliari
Nahitian Nandez (26yo, CM, Uruguay, contracted until 2024, heavily linked with us last summer)

    Caykur Rizespor
    ...bugger, loanees

    Genoa
Mattia Destro (30yo, CF, Italy, out of contract this summer, was a beast in FM12...)

    Granada
Luis Suarez (24yo, CF, Colombia, contracted until 2025, not that one...)

    Greuther Fuerth
Marius Funk (26yo, GK, Germany, out of contract this summer, pretty obvious I picked him for his name)

    Grenada
Dani Gomez (24yo, CF, Spain, contracted until 2025, I doubt Los Ladrones will activate his buyback)

    Metz
Pape Matar Sarr (19yo, CM, Senegal, ...wait a minute)

    Norwich
Max Aarons (22yo, RB, England, contracted to 2024)

    Rubin Kazan
Oh yeah, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia already left for Dinamo Batumi

    Venezia
Thomas Henry (27yo, CF, France, contracted until 2024)
Mattia Aramu (27yo, AM, Italy, contracted until 2023)

    Watford
Emmanuel Dennis (24yo, CF, Nigeria, contracted until 2026)
Ismaila Sarr (24y0, RW, Senegal, contracted until 2024)
Joshua King (30yo, CF, Norway, contracted until 2023)

    Willem II
    ...loanees again

Gotta be honest I was highly unimpressed by Max Aarons on Sunday. I get he's playing for a ****e team but you'd have thought he would do his best to impress a potential suitor, yet he seems to have regressed since his first season in the PL.

I thought he struggled badly, but it was at least partially down to weird team selection.
Their whole team looked small and weak, though.
It was men against boys in both the scoreline and in terms of physicality and athleticism.

I think Spence has a higher ceiling but whether we get him probably depends on the player. Forest don’t have a clause so he’ll be back to Boro after the playoff final but Forest will be able to bid for him because they’ll have a windfall if they win. No doubt we’ll be able to offer more but if the player fancies starting every game in a familiar environment in the PL then there’s not a lot we can do. Wouldn’t be against us going back for Aarons if that happened.

Couldn't believe this when a friend told me, but a quick check on transfermarkt confirms:

Harry Winks: 3 PL assists in 128 games.

Rodrigo Bentancur: 4 PL assists in 17 games.

Not just a different gravy, he's an entirely different carvery.

We’ll sign Spence. Calling that one, it’s a proper Tottenham deal that.

Kane to ink a new deal as well.

I’ll come back to this later in the summer once they’re done.

Mystic DH is well in motion.

Solid, sensible first signing that looks like it's going to be done super early this week.
Just need 6-7 outfield players now.
Going to be an exciting summer.
I know he's a defender but the signing I want more than most is Bastoni.

Forster’s reached full agreement according to Romano.

Romano’s also said we’re triggering the Romero obligation soon, though that’s hardly news.
