I think it'd need to be someone with an understanding and grounding in the rules of the safety issues, and how they're applied elsewhere to get the best representation.

100% this. The misrepresentation of the findings of various reports, and their abuse in justifying socially engineering crowds has a lot to answer for.

In general I agree, but if it's someone that doesn't have a good grasp of the issues, it can leave a situation where 'consultation and discussion' can be claimed for issues that are in reality arguable.

The purpose of having a fan at the SAG meetings was so they could see how decisions were arrived at and could pass that information on to other fans. It really couldn't be described as fan consultation, nor did it really require any expertise, it was about knowing what was going on, rather than being able to affect it.

Even that limited involvement would be better if it is done by someone with an understanding of the process and the issues, or the information fed back to the fans is biased, and does tend to be seen as 'consultation' when by your version, it clearly isn't, and it could be better filled by a press release, as that wouldn't have any misunderstandings built in.

That's what I was thinking too, but wasn't confident enough that the facilities already in place would be sufficient. Maybe a case of extending / expanding what's already there at worst? I can't believe it (fans in NW) couldn't be done without that much money & hassle if there was a will.

Too many people see the atmosphere as something to be enjoyed rather than created by themselves. They want a loud, energetic atmosphere created by people they don't have to intergrate with and can't they sit down while they're doing it? I went to quite a lot of away games last season and it seems to be a growing trend for singing to come from multiple places around the ground compared to every ground having one specific place that made all the noise. We're behind the curve and it's got nothing to do with having a ****ing drum. A good football crowd is an organic, homogeneous collective that doesn't sweat minor inconvenience or look for things to have ruined their experience. Look at the good away followings we've had at our place over the years, do you reckon they're all moaning about standing up or overexhuberance?

And clappers. I can get about 2500 from my mother in laws spare bedroom. They will all be blue Leicester City though (why would anyone keep a ****ing clapper).

Generally speaking the atmosphere at Swedish topflight games is miles better than most UK grounds (even if the football isn't). But it's not organics or completely spontaneous as each team has a group of Ultras organising/choregraphing the chants, the flags and the flares.

The initial scene in the video is a block from my house. You can see the song leaders whipping them up and getting the chants going. The same happens in the grounds. There are designated areas for the chanters to be and that wall of noise is much more likely to be picked up elsewhere. Most UK fans would be horrified to have some one leading the chants though...

Can you imagine our stewards, SAG and plod with any of that. And people question why the support can be muted. :emoticon-0102-bigsm

Same as I have seen in eastern Europe, however there is a very regimented hierarchy you cant just turn up with a drum or megaphone and start giving it loads.

I agree, but then, we’ve tried homogenous, organic and non-forced and some days it feels like Saturday afternoon at the Crucible.

Something else needs to change otherwise it won’t get any better. Like I said, even upping the tempo and style of the music before kick off might get people a bit more excited and pumped for the game.

Yep, good start. So where will they move the toilets and concessions too? Which vacant locations exist that they can be moved to?

Why do you need to move what clearly already exists?

I was serious about the car park. Give them less time to out shout us as they'll spend more time going for a piss.
