Good Morning. It's Monday 23rd May, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road

Leeds hold their nerve in final day showdown

Final day heartache turned to joyous elation as Leeds survived the drop by the skin of their teeth; ending a 72 year unbeaten run in the process. It looked like Jesse Marsch would need to rewrite the Great Escape going into the final game of the season. They needed to better whatever Burnley were able to muster at home against Newcastle, and with one foot already lodged in the relegation trap door, their plight looked periless.

Leeds got off to a good start, and had the ball in the back of the net early on, after Harrison opened up the Brentford defence, threading a ball neatly into the path of Gelhardt. The youngster smashed the ball into the back of the net first time, only for Leeds lifeline to be retracted following a VAR check. The travelling faithful didn't mind too much though - Newcastle had just taken the lead at Burnley.

The scores stayed the same until ten minutes into the second half. An uncharacteristic poor clearance by David Raya was intercepted by Raphinha on the edge of the box. The Spanish shot stopper tried to make amends, but instead clattered into the Leeds winger, sending him spiraling to the ground. Paul Tierney had no option but to point to the spot. Any doubts about Raphinha's loyalty were soon put to bed after sending Raya the wrong way from twelve yards. Minutes later, there was even better news. Newcastle had doubled their lead.

Jubilation turned to anguish with twenty minutes left, after Burnley reduced the deficit, followed quickly by a Brentford equaliser courtesy of Sergi Canos. The Brentford saviour turned from hero to villain in the space of two minutes. He was booked for taking his shirt off during his goal celebration, followed moments later by a second yellow card for slicing down Raphinha. Thomas Frank was incensed. He had already lost Kristoffer Ajer to injury, and was now down to nine men.

To say the last ten minutes were tense is an understatement. Another goal from Burnley would surely send the Whites down, but Newcastle stood firm. Leeds didn't know whether to stick or twist - a goal for either side could drastically change Leeds future. Fortunately, deep into stoppage time, Harrison's effort from the edge of the area ensured the nightmare of their 21/22 campaign had a happy ending.

    Aaronson deal confirmed

Leeds have agreed a fee of £22.3m with RB Salzburg for the services of Brenden Aaronson. The news comes after it was revealed by Elland Road journalist Phil Hay, that there was an agreement in place with the Austrian outfit, as long as Leeds stayed in the top flight.

The USA International has been on Leeds radar for a while. He was the subject of several bids back in the January transfer window, but half-way through the season, and a European campaign in full flow, Salzburg refused Leeds advances. Leeds have been desperately short of midfielders this season, and the €28m capture will be warmly recieved by Leeds fans.

Phil Hay also disclosed that Leeds are working on the 6m signature of Aberdeen's highly rated right-back Calvin Ramsay and an unnamed centre forward!

    £100,000 a week to stay

Having secured their Premier League status, thoughts have turned to whether Raphinha and Phillips will depart Elland Road this Summer. Various media reports are suggesting that Leeds are willing to part with wages in excess of £100,000 per week each, if they sign new terms at Elland Road.

Radrizzani's lack of ambition, almost cost Leeds dear this season. The Italian Businessman will have to work extremely hard to prove to the better players that they share the same ambitions as clubs like Aston Villa, West Ham and Leicester City.

It has been reported that Messrs Radrizzani and Orta will pull out all the stops to keep the duo at the club beyond the World Cup in December. Should they impress on the biggest stage in the World, their price-tags could soar!!!

Another yank arriving, won’t go done well with a section of our support. Unbelievably I was still reading anti Marsch commments last night on social media. A few seem to be stuck in a Bielsa time warp. Anyway joy in most parts. We’ve all done our parts, let’s see radz and victor do there’s. No excuses this time

    Morning all

I definitely woke this morning with the same joy I had two seasons back when we won promotion.

Everyone knows I am not a fan of Jessie but his job was to keep us up and he did that.

I'm looking forward to no football for a bit and the buzz of seeing who the new signings are.

One huge thing in favour of Jessie will be his ability to handle and cope with players Bielsa wouldn't dream of having at the club. For this reason I am expecting Orta to move quickly on targets he had already earmarked

    Happy Monday Everyone

Still on a high after yesterday.

That was the worst couple of hours I've ever had watching sport.

We pulled through and even I am optimistic for next season.

Thank God that season is finally over. Didn't hold out much hope yesterday, but after losing 10 fingernails, most of my hair and a fresh pair of underpants later and I can finally relax. My lad tripped over the dog and ****ed up his knee when the Harrison goal went in, was like being back in the wedge again.

Much love to all Leeds fans everywhere (even Olof) <ok>

    Morning all :emoticon-0148-yes:

pheeeew that was close and thank fk the season is over and hope to never have to go through another one like it ever.

Firstly well done to the team and Marsch although it looked like we had reverted to Bielsaball but whatever it worked. We can now only give Marsch a real chance and see how he puts his team together. Looks like the board have accepted responsibility for screw up after screw up which almost cost them £50m this season and the rest next season.

Players needed quickly as season starts in a few weeks and pre season starts in about 3 weeks. If we are really looking at 18+ squad he has a lot to offload so let the fun begin

Having to put kids to bed after full time took the buzz of slightly.

I only managed to get the 2nd half of the game as my wife managed to buy a Day Pass for Now TV.

Aaronson better be done by Friday as we need to get a fair whack of players in before the end of August and possibly shift the deadwood like Roberts and get the kids out on loan.

Morning all no pitch invasion from our fans unlike man city who assaulted the villa goalie.
One week left in this month so let's see some very early business done. Suppose there will be another new shirt waiting to be unveiled. Not enough stock was avaliable before. Plenty of things need sorting at the club and doing with some haste.

If Bamford had been fit and played the whole course of the game would have been different, we might have lost. As it turned out him missing was a blessing in disguise. I am hoping we sign a new forward anyway

I noticed on the news, one local Manchester outlet put "glorious scenes", the picture was the pitch overflowing with supporters, some had flairs lit and a girl sitting on top of the broken goal post, my first thought was it's a good job it wasn't us.

After seeing the brighton goalie up close and the efforts of pope etc saving their sides with class saves i think we need a better goalie.
