We've had a manager with heart only too, Holloway....passion can only take you so far. Love Ainsworth, but don't think he's the answer to moving us forward.
Yeah, I was thinking of Holloway. He got us promotion from League One, but faded after that. Still, a part of me would love to see Ainsworth given the chance of reasonably decent resources in a bigger club to see what he could do in the Championship.
That’s a ****ing depressing list. Only Manning of interest. Tomasson would be great but he’s won the Swedish title two years in a row and got Malmo to the group stage of the Champions League. I can’t imagine what multiverse he’d end up at QPR in. Hopefully it’s just bookies bollocks, but getting the strong sense that we don’t know what we are doing.
I thought letting him go would be based on having someone else lined up, or at least a shortlist of credible candidates. If that was the case, I'd have expected someone to have been appointed by now. It's looking like I gave the board too much credit.
It is quite possible that they may have someone and 2nd or 3rd choice candidates, lined up, but cannot finalise until the season finishes, contracts terminated, maybe including Warburton's with us, and settlements made if that someone stays in-contract. Or maybe they are still searching. We don't know yet.
But was that quote regarding his team at Wycombe, or any football team? He may have had that way of playing because of the players he had there, and lack of resource to bring in good quality ball players. Possibly with the ball playing players we have he would be happy to maintain the style of football we have, combined with the strong team spirit, pride in the shirt etc we had too at least until the last 3 months or so. I don't know, of the candidates named Tomassen looks a good shout, Eustace as well, but I'd be happy enough with Ainsworth if he did maintain our ball playing style.
I have nothing against Ainsworth and as Goldy alluded to, he hasnt really had the opportunity to prove himself at a bigger club. Having seen Wycombe play a few times, their style hasnt impressed me in the slightest. Reminds me of the old Wimbledon days.
Ever the optimist. It's possible to name a manager who's contract is running out before it does. How many players agree contracts with other teams before theirs runs out? Your post would only really apply to those who's team is still in the playoffs, I.e. ainsworth up until yesterday. And if they are still searching then that suggests it's not been properly thought out.
It may apply to any Manager under contract until their contracts terminate, many 1st June, especially if the target (s) continue under contract after that. They also may have found someone but can't name that person until contracts are sorted. Ferdinand/Hoos appointed a good Manager last time with Warburton, the first time I think that they handled a Managerial appointment. So I don't see any need to be especially pessimistic about them making a good decision this time. There is no great hurry to appoint someone before early June. More important that they get the right person in than doing it early.
Many of us (myself included), have viewed the release of Warbs as a negative thing. However, if the board were convinced that Warbs could not develop us further, then letting him go is actually a very positive move even if they did not have Mr Right lined up. The deeper issue is whether the board / owners remain committed to bring greater success to QPR. If that is the case, we can then trust them to find the right man for the job. Seeing the exciting end to the PL today has renewed my appetite to get us back there so here's hoping. Again!
There is a strange report on fb...from a ",in the know" sort of person... saying the new manager will be announced on Tuesday Pinch of salt ....methinks
Dear Beloved, we're going to pass on your presentation prospectus but moving forward, sincerely hope you can contribute as a loyal fan. The board feel you are overqualified as we are seeking someone who will relinquish all expectation of promotion, be prepared to work on a zero budget, whilst keeping up your end of the bargain of finishing mid table with all upcoming junior prospects upgraded to the first team. Please note that the board can and will sell any decent senior players at any given time whilst you balance our standing in and around mid table obscurity.
