what a great day atmosphere first class team delivered from first whistle to last only one team was going to win that game where we were we thought Pritchards free kick was in and celebrating like mad then realised it missed all players sure did us proud and hopefully that last we ever see of league one
Another from their end, can see more of our sections that the TV cameras didn't pick up. Unreal support.
Congratulations on your promotion, good to see you back in the Championship. Thought you'd get automatic at start of season but nothing beats going up via winning at Wembley ! Good luck for next season but don't give us a going over lol
Post of the night this..... Wish I could give you two likes for this....superb. Another edit..... The more I read this, the more I like it.
Congratulations to all you amazing fans. You'll be a credit to the championship which imo is the best competitive league.
unreal day and night, hope in my life time i never have to see 3rd division football again, big summer ahead
Well done. Unless we get our act together quickly, we might only see you in the cups for the foreseeable. With the right additions, another play off campaign could be on the cards. All the best (Charlton fan)
Absolutely over the moon for all of us. We've suffered a ****e six years so how lovely to see a bit of success and to enjoy that day all together at Wembley. We fully deserved it yesterday too. A nice fast start and an early goal (hilarious goalkeeping btw) (the two keys against WW, score first and score early...) that put their plan for the game up the ****ter really as it meant they had to come out. They were clearly rattled and we could have probably had a couple more in that first half - they didn't lay a glove on us. Ainsworth obviously got into them at HT and they looked a bit more purposeful that first ten mins of the second half but we weathered the storm. The crosses and freekicks were dealt with by the CBs and the brilliant Anthony Patterson (our undisputed number one, the kid is brilliant). We almost wrapped it up with the Rosco header, keeper was planted and it just bounced agonisingly wide. Superb build up play from Pritch to find the space to engineer the cross, which was menacing. A couple of moments from them, a weird bounce that caught out Bailey Wright and let Vokes in. A massive panicked in take of breath as we all expected to see the net ripple, until super Patto arrived at his feet to nullify the opportunity. Big moment and fantastic reading of the situation from a 22 year old stopper. Then Hanlan gets the wrong side of Gooch (hes a new man under Alex Neil isnt he?!) and a lucky ricochet off Wright and hes in. Time, space and options but he tamely scuffs it straight at Patto. Ninety seconds later its absolute carnage. Great interplay from Paddy Roberts (superb yesterday, stretched them so much) and Pritch get the ball into Ross Stewart at the edge of the box. His shape looks like hes going across the keeper before he pulls it back into the near corner through the defenders legs and they all stand motionless as it rolls gloriously into the corner. I didn't expect to celebrate like I did, I just stood still arms aloft and felt really emotional (I had a little weep to be honest). I think the emotion that we had done it and seeing what it means to everybody, and the canage of the limbs around the ground, and being there with my Dad. Just a little overwhelming really. Those last 15 mins with added time were sensational. WW looked desperate and if anyone was going to score again it was us - a couple of decent chances and we probably should have in all honesty. The celebrations, singalongs and seeing everybody buzzing at the end will stay with me forever like. And I got to share that with my Dad, who has been taking me to games for as long as I can remember. A special day. I could go around each and every one of them and give praise after yesterday, they really stepped up. Over the moon for them as lads and especially the likes of Gooch who have been here forever. The final word on Alex Neil - he was absolutely galvanised us. A leaky defence that looked like conceding from every attack to going through an entire playoff campaign without the opposition creating a great deal. Its the first time we've had a manager whose managed to instill that winning mentality and the mental reslience since we've been in this league and its taken us to promotion. 16 unbeaten and lots of momentum. Bring on the Championship. I've rambled enough. TL;DR - I had a mint day and I'm over the moon!
Great post mate and well summed up, although isn't it 17 unbeaten ? No matter, we're up anyways. Brilliant. Onwards and upwards.
I keep watching the first goal and the keeper. It looks a howler. But when you look at how Embleton struck the ball it was with the inside of his foot with a hell of a lot of power. I reckon the keeper read that and expected the ball to move. It just went straight and actually faded a little. No idea how when you look at the foot hit the ball. It should’ve moved to the left but didn’t!! Power as well. You don’t often see a ball hit that hard with the inside of the foot. Either way, I’m not bothered. It was an awesome feeling
Not long woke up, throat is sore, legs are aching and I can't believe we did it. My ears are still ringing from the noise and I can't stop smiling. Thanks to @Smug in Boots for the pub advice, was great to meet a couple of people and the beer wasn't bad at all. Met police must have had the easiest football shift ever yesterday and every one of us was just there for a good time and were a credit to the club, I don't think I will ever forget the noise, the joy and the absolute relief when the final whistle went
Hi vinkel, hope you are well. Thanks for your kind words, I miss Sundermad as it was a good source of info as we don’t really get much about Sunderland in the NW. I really enjoyed the game yesterday and being selfish I was glad it was Wycombe as those arseholes took 6 point’s off us when we were in div 1. I really hope you go straight back up to where you belong next season so I can have a few pints with some decent fans. Talking about pints I’m off to the pub shortly as it’s now my turn to be ****ting myself. Take care.
