I disagree. We've had a number of matches this season when it clearly hasn't been working. We struggle against sides who are happy to sit back and allow us time on the ball. We also have problems with very aggressive, physical sides at times, too. Take the recent games against Brighton and Brentford as examples. We weren't creating any decent chances and didn't manage a shot on target in either match. Our opposition were doing both of those things and we were quite fortunate to get a point overall. Conte clearly didn't think that Ndombele, Lo Celso, Alli or Gil were up to the job. That's fine and we're right to move them on if that's the case, even if it's temporarily. We failed to replace them and we've lacked options and struggled for numbers in recent weeks. Bergwijn's been given scraps, while we've been desperate in other positions and are very leggy.
Big piece form Ally Gold. Has poured cold water on the Dybala links, with Gold suggesting that Paratici believes he’s not the right fit for Conte’s project. Reckons we are looking for a striker and there’s a number of names we like: DLC (RCL’s favourite player), Osimhen, Jesus, Isak, Nunez, Schick and Martinez. We want a LCB to compete with Davies, Bastoni of Inter is someone we like. Expects Johnstone to be done. Says we’ll make a move for Djed Spence and also have an interest in Brennan Johnson. Thinks Winks will leave and a new CM will come in, Tielemans and Eriksen among the targets. Scarlett and Devine to head out on loan. Expects Kane to remain
Bastoni is certainly picking up steam in recent days, not least because Bastoni credits Conte for making him the player he is today While there is the argument against giving Inter £40m+ for Bastoni while they sign Romagnoli on a free, as the optics look more than a little similar to Dortmund trying not to snicker when selling Aubameyang or Pulisic or Sancho for the exact amount of money to sign half a squad, my main worry is all the minor detail that Beppe Marotta is Inter's DoF and is likely to not be the biggest fan of Paratici (for obvious reasons...) which does raise the risk of either getting rinsed or having negotiations dragged out in the hope of another club coming in for him
McKennie Watch Again... However, there's one issue: this claim makes no sense whatsoever, given Bentancur was bought outright while Romero was loaned with an option to buy Not sure if I want to blame Calcio Mercato or SpursWhine for that...
DCL...? At Spurs???? Would rather depend eternity listening to talksport while being kicked in the nuts with steel toe caps than us sign that vogue wannabe twathead
Argentina forward Paulo Dybala has ruled out a move to Tottenham as the 28-year-old searches for his next club after confirming he will leave Juventus at the end of his contract this summer. (AS - in Spanish)
David Ornstein says Fraser Forster is now our top target as backup to Lloris. Apparently already said his Southampton goodbyes and we hope to conclude a deal by next week. Personally I’d rather Johnstone, I’d say he’s better and also 4 years younger than Forster, Forster’s only a year younger than Lloris so it’s not even if he’ll be able to take the reigns once Hugo’s gone. Can only presume Johnstone’s been offered a better package somewhere, whether that be financially or with a guarantee of being first choice.
CB Dodecahedron Watch So let's see if I've got this straight... A few days ago, the prevailing story was that Inter would sign Romagnoli on a free and sell Bastoni to raise funds, with us being named as a potential destination A few days before that, Gleison Bremer's name once again bubbled up So, today, Romano is claiming that Inter want to sign Bremer, which begs the question where Romagnoli fits in all this This is less confusing than the film I saw last night where a bloke leaps bunghole-first onto a buttplug-shaped trophy in order to give himself martial arts skills
Romano says we’re one of the clubs to have approached Perisic. I’d personally love this one, he’s been a favourite non-Spurs player of mine for some time, think he’d add a lot to the team/ squad. Knows Conte well too.
I'll let this one go as a gesture of good will ahead of our loss to Norwich tomorrow. But beware, next time you try to take the moral high ground on this thread, I'll be waiting for you Colin. Samir and I will be waiting. Waiting and watching.
