I also think that the covid lockdowns played a part. I don't know why, but a substantial chunk of our society appear to have forgotten how to act normally. It's like somebody's switched off their inhibitions, for some reason. Driving is probably the most glaring example. It's never been great, don't get me wrong, but there are so many **** drivers out there now. It's bizarre.
On the PFA awards i'm sure that a similar thing happened years ago and the reason given by some was that the PFA nomination forms go out quite early , i think sometime early in the new year , and lots of players send them in not long after they receive them hence an over emphasis on the first 2/3rds of the season which probably explains Gallagher .
WOW! Actually interviewing Tim Howard on Morning Joe,a very good political tv show over here.Seems the Yanks are getting excited about the Sunday deciders in the PL. Pity their all being played at the same time!!!!? They are over the moon with City and Liverpool. They forget that, like the New York Yankees, they can buy all the best players and win all the bloody trophies!
Yeah my worry is their mentality. Usually anytime the chase for top4 has been in their hands, they seem to find a way to mess it up
He’s been a decent loan signing for Palace but even at his best this season, he’s never been close being one of the best in the league. Imo the only reason he’s nominated is because he’s English and a Chelsea loanee
I think Rice is a Rolls Royce of a player, he would walk into our side without question. Its true that he is no De Bruyne or Foden but that's not his role, he very seldom gives the ball away, his passing whilst not Hoddlesque is top draw he plays forward, he never stops running is rarely caught in possession or out of position he is not a glamorous player or playing for a glamorous club but that should not stop him being considered for these sort of awards I bet he has had fewer 'bad games' over the whole season than any of the others nominated.
The weather thing is quite true re civil unrest. Unfortunately it's not as sexy an explanation as all the experts they trot out with all their psychological theories etc for why these things happen, and why they go on. Fact is that a heavy rainfall is as likely to bring civil unrest to an end as some radical political intervention.
Gross was one of the many, many Schalke managers last season and it didn't work out, unsurprisingly. Klopp's at 40/1 if anyone fancies throwing some money away.
Att the minimum there is close to 2m quid in earnings at stake for every club that is not fighting for the greater prizes )PL survival, EL/CL slots,, PL title) . On paper that should motivation enough for the players of half the clubs.
I just don’t see anything amazing about him. To me he’s a media darling because he’s English and I remember the game against Spurs in particular where Bentancur taught him a lesson. Being a good DM for West Ham shouldn’t be enough to get nominated for PFA player of the year ahead of Son who has 21 league goals
Everton are as kosher as Chelsea FC, wrapped in pork sausage meat and covered in bacon. Whilst their financial doping brought them no more than mid-table mediocrity, everybody was too busy laughing to give a damn. Now, their regime faces some greater degree of scrutiny...I wonder whether there's any chance of the PL doing anything about it....
Its the PFA fans player of the year not the actual PFA award. Its all about opinions King, and thats why we get reasonable debate here, I like him and you are right that the England thing does help, but I don't recall him having a bad game for England either and in the Euro final we certainly didn't improve when Henderson replaced him.
no as they did a "deal" with them where the PL board oversee their spending this season though since my guess is they are looking at another loss god knows where that leaves them .
Clubs who properly administer their affairs don't do deals and have external monitoring. The owner and his backer are as dodgy as ****.
