tbh I would say, O'Leary. Got a bunch of mediocre players like Bridge and Mills to the CL semis. Built a damn good squad with Rio, Kewell, Dacourt, and Keane. brought through Smith, Woodgate, and Robinson. Yes it didn't end well but Venables dragged us down before the sell-off. I get Bielsa got us 9th last season but Wilder did the same with Sheff Utd, Joe Royale got Ipswich 4th. First season bounce.
It was a basic mix up. The owner told the players that the aim was Champions League. The players thought he meant Championship. So in a way, we have achieved our goal....kind of.
We could do with a fluke or two on Sunday. Chris Wood to ‘accidentally’ score a hat trick and Leeds to…well..draw.
So have I. The “good” players we lose weren’t good enough to keep us in the PL so I won’t lament them that much. Just a shame to see all that hard work unravel. I wonder if Radz will step aside?
I really hope Leeds stay up mate. They don't deserve to be in the Championship with the likes of us!!!
Well I’ll have to disagree that Bridge and Mills were mediocre players. And didn’t O’Leary have six international strikers to choose from? Entirely different set of circumstances. But thanks for your answer
Must admit, what Huddersfield have done this season is pretty impressive! 12 out of their 13 players were freebee's!
Didn't O'Leary inherite a lot of the youth players through Wilkos idea of setting up Thorpe Arch and he had a chairman with a bottomless pit of money(well so he thought) We were also in the Premier at the time.
