Real shame Origi never quite nailed down a place. Always looked like might be a great focal point of the attack but wasn’t to be. Can’t say bad word about him though, never moans and has obviously scored some important goals when he has come on. Maybe not his most famous but the one v wolves end of last season to sneak a 1-0 up in last few minutes helped us get CL football. Would be fitting way for him to finish this season with another CL medal.

AWB no longer needed at United. Willing to let him leave?, prefer on perm basis but will consider a loan.

That was 50m well spent on a guy that struggled to pass to his own team mate… but makes a sliding tackle twice a game so must be brilliant defensively n

Very good prospect when they signed him that could have been quality had he had the right coach imo. I actually wanted us to sign him. He needs a reset

Yeah, I was gutted when they signed him as he looked very decent at Palace and thought he'd develop further. He looked like a rampaging attacking fb at Palace!

Got a great name as well that would have lent itself to an inspiring song from the Kop.

But but but it's what a RB should be doing and he's the best defender.

Man Utd's player development has been appalling the last few years. There are very few who have really improved there; McTominay is the only one who springs to mind; Shaw for a bit. But AWB, Shaw the rest of the time, AWB, Rashford, Martial and now Sancho have all Stagnated or Regressed.

It's a good point as we have seen a large squad of players who have not improved at all under a few managers.

Shaw was savaged by mourinho. Gets fit , has paces and relies on that but if in and out loses any sort of shape rapidly and has zero positional sense. He doesn't seem to have learned anything in 5 years about eating right etc.

Mctominay is a even more average fletcher. He's played a fee good games bit no consistency there.

Rashford has been accused of losing the hunger. I think agent ole knackered him with that back issue and he's not recovered at all, isn't fit and isn't bothered to work. Someone needs to grab hold of gim fairly quick and get that sorted.

Wan biscuit was never that good imo. It was like Zaha going there. Too big for him and no role models to get him to the level needed.

Fernandes has been pants after playing well pre ronaldo or at least getting goals and assists. Take off the pens and he just doesn't look as good but imo he is surrounded by muck. He's a busy player or was and needs a team around him to play that game.

Nobody mentioned de gea. Since he signed up after the Madrid move debacle he's not been the same. Weak at near post. Inconsistent, glued to his line. Produces a few saves when they are under pressure and looks a hero but is a big cause of their low block and has stagnated.

Maguire. For a leader apparently his attitude stinks and frankly he was always a.stand and head it merchant so what utd were buying that for nobody knows.

No thanks. He may become a solid defensive right back but he is incredibly limited. Offers nothing going forward and his actual defending is so overrated. His 1vs 1 defending is pretty good but all other aspects are painfully short.

There's this thing right... its called good position.

When wan biscuits looks a hero sliding in a couple times, we'll guess what? He was put of position to begin with.

Like trent jogging back and sliding in in the fa cup final. Looms a hero but wasn't there to defend it properly in the first place and as we ALL know everyone says trent can't defend.

    Therefore wan biscuit is hopeless.

Aometimes it’s needed but that’s the thing. When do you ever see vvd actually make a tackle let alone a slide tackle. They get position right to either intercept or the just jockey a player stand them up and force them to try to round them and just use their body to ease them out the way.

Maybe bit diff for a Cb compared to full back but most of the great defenders never really make what you’d class as real tackles in that sense.

Exactly. If you are in right postion you face the attacker and block.

If you have tonchase someone who's got a run you have to try win it.

If you have to slide from a distance either someone else got beat and you are covering or you've just plain got in the wrong place.

Nothing wrong with Trent's defending when he's in a position to do it. We play with the FB's so high that they're bound to get caught out a few times. They can't be in two places at once.
Virgil hardly ever needs to make a tackle because he's almost always in the right place - plus nobody bothers trying to take him on.

Tactically both full backs are told to not rush out to block corsses as well. I really don't like us not blocking but it's a pretty.much consistent tactic so it must be from klopp

He has scored some amazing and stunningly important goals coming off the bench but honestly, he never looked good when starting. A Cisse without Cisse's pace. Decent but not great.

An amazing option off the bench, I just don't know why he couldn't play as well as he does off the bench during the start of a game. His early days with us he looked really lazy. I know I wasn't a fan because of lack of work ethic, I didn't see him lasting more than a season. <laugh>

Klopp really turned him around though. Can't fault the lad's work ethic now. <ok>

    Started v barca :)

Seriously though his best game I ever saw was v everton and it was 2 or 3 years ago. He was absolutely standout but he never delivered that since. There's something about everton that sets that lad playing.
