Get in there, we won away !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Demps gets one and brilliant to see Dembele getting on the score sheet. COYW
Very happy right now! With the possible exception of Hughes (possible because Baird is looking pretty good at CB now), that's our first choice XI. Good team and a good result.
Well chuffed for the boys and most of all for Big Mart. Now let's build on this and smash Krakow then put in a good performance against Spurs. The BBC says we were fortunate (we're due a bit of fortune, I feel), I'd be interested to know what those who saw the game think?
Really good news - Well done team. It seems that BobbyZ was unselfish to ensure the first goal; conversely Dembele for the second. I look forward to watching Match Choice on Sky (since I'm home). As I suggested earlier, results suggest that we'll be last on MOTD again. Really pleased about getting a win on-the-road - especially given I'll be at the upcoming Sunderland match - While we won't repeat my last visit 3-0 win back in the spring, if Villa got a point today, then who knows what we might get. COYW
This was also crucially timed. Our next four games are Spurs (home), Sunderland & Arsenal (away) and Liverpool (home). This win means that we can be looking to take 4 points (moderate ask) from those games rather than 7 (big ask)
Echo the thoughts of everyone else, not getting ahead of ourselves but this is a big confidence booster. Now lets show krakow what were all about on thursday, COYW!!!!!!!!!!
We're winning away We're winning away!!!!!!!! How **** must you be! We're winning away!! Just got home after an unexpectedly enjoyable away day, our end was a mass of empty seats! But as always the lads that turned up made some noise. Im really glad about this tbh. I didnt post last week but read some overly negative comments, especially those saying MJ is a gonner and Dembele s ****. Hopefully that proves both wrong- dembele was immense, he is just so good on the ball when not running round in circles. A much needed win- if ony we had got 3 points last week as we really should have we would be p up in 8th, despite some other terible results! COYW
It may seem like a biased view as I'm a Latics fan, but as honestly as I can put it, if we had anyone who knew where the goal was, you'd have been on the wrong end of a hiding. We'd kill for a player who's as composed as Dempsey or Johnson are infront of goal, heck even a bully of a striker like Zamora would score 15-20 a season for us and I'm not denigrating him in any way when I say that, as most Latics fans would give anything for a striker with half, maybe even just a third of his talent.
Hi ReallyReal I could only listen on Fulham Radio today and even based on that (slightly ) biased forum I'd have to agree with you. It sounded similar to the mugging that we got from Everton last week Good luck for the rest of the season
We've felt that a couple of times ourselves this year, ReallyReal! Ultimately what seems to make the difference in the Premiership is not creativity but finishing; this game sums that up quite well.
Agree 100%, we're bottom of the table yet we've dominated in at least 6 matches so far, we just can't score for peanuts and that's where I'm worried for us but expect you guys to end up mid-table come May. I'd offer you luck for the season ahead, but I doubt you need it and we need every scrap of it we can find
Great result - poor performance. Watched the replay on TV last night and this morning. In many ways it was the opposite of the Everton game where we dominated, created a zillion chanced and lost. Wigan could have beaten us 5-2 but were very unlucky, hitting the woodwork at least four times. We created three or four chances and scored on two of them. So I'm glad we got 3 points out of it, but I still think the team has some serious problems.
Yesterday proved how fickle football can be - We've played better and lost on other occasions. I'll take the 3 points. Roll-on the return of Digger Davies (and we should be using Duff more) - Dembele may have scored but he's still holding the ball too much, but if he'd not converted his goal, Dempsey would have had a right go at him.
I don't want to sound as worried about our problems as DR but, whilst yesterday's result was obviously great the fact that our performance was lacking is worrying. The general view in the press (and on this board) is that we shouldn't have won and wouldn't have beaten many teams playing the way we did. As others have said we were due for some luck (as are Wigan and I hope they get it) but we aren't going to win many more games on luck alone. What seems odd is that we've had 3 good results so far in the league (yesterday's being one of them) and we played outstandingly well in 2 of them (QPR and Man City) but most of our other performances have been average at best. I just don't get it. I don't know if its Jol or the players or the alignment of the stars over the Cottage but it doesn't make sense.
