Looked like the ex vale player was targeted and his team mates were protecting him

All this pitch invasion ****e needs knocking on the head. Coppers and Stewards are being shown up for how useless they really are. There should be big punishments for the individual idiots but I'd be asking questions of the cops if I was the club.....what exactly are the clubs paying them for if it's not to stop that sort of stuff

How many Law Enforcement Officers and Stewards do you think it might take to stop that many hyped up fans from invading the pitch.

I'm no expert on the Laws of the Game, but my understanding is that it is the home clubs responsibility to ensure that ALL the fans are under control.

In reality it would have been an immposible job.

BUT, it is a problem, and it needs to be addressed.

The Premier League could for instance immediatly dock Everton four points for failing to control their Fans.
That would send the message to every other fan in the country.
(Small print, dock four points from any team whose fans invade, just in case the away fans, or visitors try to be clever:emoticon-0100-smile)

    Too savage?
So put that rule in place for the future and make it twelve points.
And make that apply throughout the Leagues.

It's either something this drastic or bring back the fences.
Those of us who endured those fances are unlikely to welcome that solution.

    Any other ideas?

A bit of spillage onto the pitch after a goal isn't too bad but all this stuff after the whistle where thousands are on the pitch goading and physically assaulting players is out of order. Big bans for the specific individuals, jail time (as the Forest fan has got) and points deductions as an option.
It would take hundreds and hundreds of coppers to be present, even as a deterrent and even then I doubt it would stop recent events.
I wouldn't go back to fencing, but looking at stadium designs (the SoL for example) it's easy to get into the pitch if needed, but I think that's the point for safety reasons if the stand needs to be evacuated onto the pitch.
Ultimately the fans need to be sensible about it.

Good on Patrick for fighting back ! Everton should lose points in my opinion that would stop them. The f a never acted after the Grealish fiasco, so when will they after a riot ?.

Bump. I reckon there will be loads of twists today. I'll go for City to win the league and Leeds to go down.

Looking forward to today’s games but I reckon City win comfortably and Leeds go down without a fight…
