Isn't that strange I am happy with a point. I think what I am more happy about is our performance, and our spirit to come back. Firstly lets face it, Petrov's goal was brilliant and nothing you can do about that. you just have to say 'hats off'. What I am glad about is Wickham..the question we will be all asking is why didn't he start in previous matches. But a well taken goal by him, he will be buzzing and you saw it in the match. Him and Bendnter will gel and I think they will be brilliant. Also, well done Westwood. He hasn't played in about 3 months and he did well to stay alert and save Bent's shot. Well done. If Mignolet is out I won't be too bothered. My only issues are, we are defending too deep again. Before you all say this is nothing to do with Bruce.. He is not out on the pitch, you could see him telling them to push out. So hoping the defence will learn. Good point, Villa arn't the worst team in the world.
I'm happy with a point too ..... But "If Mignolet is out I won't be too bothered" ?? I feel we should at least show a bit of compassion for an bad injury suffered in fighting the cause!
I was there,Well where was westwood with thier free kick ?, we were lucky to get apoint and the miserable home run continues against average teams. 2 more points dropped and are we ever going to win back to back games.
Only happy because we had to come from behind twice. Thought we were the better side for 75% of the game and a little bit of composure for our final passes would have been a convincing win. Their first goal was a good strike but YES we could have done something about it. Two players walked away from agbobgalhor (I think) let him play a ball into acres of space, a retreating midfield, all the time in the world to set it up and place it wherever he wanted. Poor defending. A lot of people slag off Mig. and I really can't see why. Young keeper who is very good and can only get better. Whickam took his goal well but the link up wasn't anything great but will come in time. Sess (love him) is just a tad to greedy when he should be setting players up who are in much better positions. And just for the hell of it, Turner is just as crap as ever. Ahmen.
Happy with a point! Easy answer...Yes.. After a great 45 mins against Bolton, people thought we were back on track, to what? Villa a decent team, so yes a point is ok, except Meylers Adolf tash.
Not happy with a point at all. Petrov hit a good shot but very poor defence gave him too much room. Their second goal came from a free kick that the ref got wrong. They were very defensive and we could break them down, both Vaughan and Larsson tired second half but we need Larsson on for his free kicks. Turner who had a very good game should have got one or both headers on target and Given is a great keeper and saved Larsson's free kick, many goalies would not have.
Movember (the month formerly known as November) is a moustache growing charity event held during November each year that raises funds and awareness for men's health. Meyler is doing it for charity..... http://www.movember.com/
Villa were lucky to come away with a point, a bit more luck our way and 3 points were ours. Villa were playing like stoke in the 2nd half, trying to batter us physically. overall good performance with a few times were we could have done better (defence needing to close down faster for example). both happy and dissapointed with the point. happy cos villa have a good squad, dissapointed cos our performance meant we deserved all 3.
Its a shame we had to makes enforced subs, I think Bruce might have bought Meyler on sooner had we not had to make the subs. Both Vaughan and Colback looked tired in the 2nd half after putting good shifts in for the first 60 minutes.
Another point at home is not a good thing although performance wise it was a fair result imo. We give posession away far too easily & too many free kicks.
The "foul" happened right in front of where I sit. Agbonlahor was not touched by our player but fell like he'd been shot and sreamed his head off to further con the ref. We heard the scream loud and clear and I sit 27 rows back. The ref was absolutely rubbish today, inconsistent and nearly as bad as he was last week in the QPR v Chelsea game. Having said that it was a well taken free kickand the goal was well taken by Collins. Why couldn't Turner do the same with the two free headers he had in the game. I ended up happy with a point but we gifted Villa with a point and lost ourselves two by defending too deep for long periods of the game.
Easy...Turner does one thing quite well as a footballer and that's a defensive header. No matter if he is in our box, their box or middle of the park. (I know I'm very critical of the lad but it's an easy thing to spot) Oh he can also hoof quite well, so thats two things.
It sounds as if Mignolet will be out and I am concerned. In the subs we include a goalkeeper so we will have 2 of our 3 recognised goalkeepers injured and Westwood in goal with a untried youngster as reserve goalkeeper. That may be okay unless Westwood gets injured and then where do we go?
He will miss the Man U game and then there is an international break (so my mate says....I'm not sure) so will probably just miss the one game. Unless like Bruce says: might be teeth or cheekbone which like you say we will be struggling. Recall Carson maybe or emergency loan.
Well the 1/2 time stats said he covered over 5 miles in the first half, that's actually quite a long way in 45 minutes considering he was sprinting, jumping turning etc... which is why I thought he put in a good shift. I play football on a Sunday morning and even at that level its harder to perform at the peak of your fitness caompared to running.
