FootMercato are linking us with Rennes left winger Martin Terrier, who has scored 21 goals in Ligue 1 this season On the one hand...no, we have a top-scoring left winger already, thank you very much On the other hand, he can play as both a LW and CF, while also popping up as an AM and RW on occasion, having someone who can understudy both Kane and Son would be a pretty smart thing to do It also has to be said that he has a pretty insane goal conversion rate
The final round of Ligue 1 fixtures could dictate what happens Rennes vs Lille Strasbourg vs Marseilles Nice vs Reims Monaco vs Lens As things stand, Monaco and Marseilles in the second and third CL spots on 68 points with Monaco in second on goal difference, Rennes are in the EL spot on 65 points, while Strasbourg and Nice are on 63 with Strasbourg in the ECL spot on goal difference - meaning Rennes could be in the CL, EL, ECL or rien come Saturday evening If they make the CL, there's no chance of signing Terrier If they wind up in the EL, there's a minute chance of signing Terrier - but it would likely cost us a bundle If a freak combination of results sees them finishing sixth, Levy will be soaping up his hands and preparing to go elbow-deep
Dan KP Watch According to his Reddit AMA, this summer's shopping list is A left-sided CB A CM A RWB A RW A backup keeper A backup striker
Talking of goalkeepers... Gavin Bazunu, currently on loan with Pompey, wants out from Citeh. He's been brilliant for Ireland and will no doubt walk into most PL teams. I think he would be a good option for us, but he wants a No 1 slot and there doesn't appear to be any urgency to replace Hugo anytime soon, so probably a non-starter.
We've been linked with Cucurella again, this time alongside City and Chelsea. I think he's a very Guardiola player and they desperately need a new, non-rapey left-back.
23 years old and with 4 years still on his contract, he'll cost an absolute fortune. But since we've mentioned Brighton, I'll throw in Leandro Trossard again. Not giving up on that one. Versatile, can play at LWB, LW or in a more AM position. Going into the final year of his contract.
I'd be very surprised if it's that low, but if true we should be all over that. Cover and long-term replacement for Davies and is more than comfortable playing the LWB role. Logic dictates this summer Brighton will get strip-mined. All of Cucurella, Trossard, Lamptey, Bissouma and Sanchez could easily play at a higher level. I doubt their wage ceiling is more than a drop in the bucket compared to the teams doing the strip-mining. Last I read, Cucurella and Lamptey are on around £40k pa. City could double that without blinking.
Could also be a massive problem for them if Potter leaves. No big links yet, but there's clearly a lot of admiration for him and he'll be drawing offers. The timing of his next move is incredibly important for both him and the club.
I'm not as sold as some on Cucurella. Not a bad player by any means but I think he'd be a relatively big outlay for someone that I don't think is an improvement on what we have. As a LWB I'd pick Reguilon over him and as a LCB I'd pick Davies, and if we're looking for a new LCB, he's not the type I think we need nor who Conte wants, think we'll be looking at a more physically imposing and natural CB, like Torres/ Gvardiol etc.
Today's random rumour is Stuttgart striker Sasa Kalajdzic, courtesy of The Pathetic and their football hipster schtick That being said, £21m for a 24 year old with a 1 in 2 average, primarily off the bench, we could do a lot worse - not least when trying to pronounce his name
I think he'd suit City a lot better than us and if they're in for him, then we've got little to no chance. His versatility and composure on the ball, as well as his consistent ****housing, would be perfect for them. Could cover several positions where they've had issues and give them space to rotate more at the back.
A Plan B player. Austrian Crouchie, but taller. From last season: Note all the assists from Borna Sosa, who we've also been linked with.
Emerson can be quite the ****ehouse when he wants/needs to be, I remember against Villa he and Romero were ganging up on one of their players as the clock was ticking down
Pedro Almeida reckons Paratici’s spoken to Dybala about a move. Which is hardly a surprise to be honest.
Everton supposedly want to sell Dele already and want £20m () for him. We have a 25% sell on clause apparently. I said before he left I truly fear for his future in the game. I don’t see where he goes. He needs to join a team that basically caters to his exact needs and there aren’t many that can - nor will - do that. I’m not sure if he’ll have too much pride to willingly go down to the Championship/ League One and he doesn’t strike me as someone who’d do too well abroad. Huge fall from grace from a player that once seemingly had the world at his feet.
