I would be interested in seeing the league table for the last ten games of the season over the last two years. I think we would be firmly bottom even if you included the six relegated teams?
In the cold light of day I think you’re right. Overall been an ok season considering everything. But for me it is just depressing being a saints fan. I would love to see a competitive team again. But we are just making up the numbers in this league.
The big question is are we making progress on the pitch? and the answer is quite clearly no at present. The performances were pretty good at the start of the season without getting the points that the team deserved so I was quite happy to wait and see and during the winter the points started to flow in and a top ten finish was not only a possibility it seemed likely and I really never saw this dramatic loss of form coming with no obvious reason for it. I made plenty of legitimate excuses for why we struggled in the second half of last season but there appears to be none now and it's simply not acceptable for the team to not put in 100% effort now and it's Ralph's job to kick arses because it reflects on him and he's the one in the firing line. We have to get back to what was getting results and good reviews throughout the football world and Ralph quite rightly got most of the plaudits for and he does have most of the tools at his disposal as we have had very good periods during his tenure. I still think most of the problems started with the central defence and it has affected the team's mentality and confidence and maybe Ralph's too. He needs assistance on and off of the pitch especially with the defensive set up so i'll wait and see what happens in the summer with the new owners but Ralph will be under pressure to get results from the first game of next season.
I was happy enough at 1-1, despite the negative tactics and low possession we were doing a good job of shutting them out until a glaring error for 2-1. But from then on it was absolutely pathetic, meekly accepted the loss. I lost patience at straight swapping Broja for Adams, really poor mentality when one goal down towards the end of a game where there is really no consequence to going for it. No intent to come back at all, poor play, poor management. Despite Ralph getting offended when it was suggested before, we really do look lazy / half arsed at times as well. Redmond was by an absolute mile our MOTM today, I imagine that may well be his last home game for us - shame that the players likely to stay are showing so little at the end of this season, very concerned about next season.
I wonder what the deal is with Redmond. We all sense he’s off, but when he plays like that I remember how good he could be.
It's getting harder to defend Ralph TBH. Why wait until we're behind yet again to make changes? Why stick with only one up front? We just waved the white flag at 2-1. Pathetic. Only Redmond came out of that with any credit.
If he had scored that equaliser, the hate mail he would have got would have been far worse than what our so called experts are giving him now!
Honestly I feel he’s had a fairly good season when he has played, I think he is better than Elyounoussi but has been pushed out of the side. With one year left on Redmonds deal I think the chances are we will cash in rather than let him go on a free.
Couldn’t agree more. Should have brought Adams on next to broja. Just boring and pathetic decisions. Why not absolutely go for it? Ralphs lost it tbh
I felt Stuey Armstrong and Romeu were the right subs at 1-1, but not after we went down. Adams needed to come on for a CB and go two up front, when the fourth official signalled Broja coming off I went on a proper bell end tirade. Such a poor decision.
Milner is apparently immune from referee interference. Not sure why. He fouls a lot and is rarely punished.
It was an insipid & tactically inept display tonight vs a 3rd / 2nd string LFC side. Of course, a few might say what were you expecting …. well trying to score at the end would have been a reasonable tactic. I’ve no faith Ralph can sort this even with £.
Just back. Bit ****. No fight and just let them win. Finding it hard to be team Ralph too. I was there for the beginning of the 'lap of appreciation' only because it takes so long to get out from row HH. Embarrassing that the players actually went on one to about 1000 fans.
