Someone actually needs to get to the bottom of this, possible further sanctions May be in order for the chavs if they've broken the rules.

Andreas Christensen asked not to play in FA Cup final
Tuchel confirms defender will join Barcelona this summer

Christensen is set to leave Chelsea for Barcelona this summer
    J

Andreas Christensen, who is leaving Chelsea for Barcelona at the end of the season, made himself unavailable for selection on the morning of Saturday’s FA Cup final.

Thomas Tuchel, the Chelsea head coach, confirmed for the first time that Christensen will leave the club in the summer when his contract expires. The Denmark defender, who came through the club’s academy, decided to make himself unavailable for the final against Liverpool at Wembley but is understood to have withdrawn from selection despite not being injured.

Members of the Chelsea squad are believed to have been surprised and confused by his decision to leave the team hotel before the game. Christensen’s representatives did not respond when contacted by The Times for comment but there were suggestions he may have felt unwell last week.

The 26-year-old centre back moved to Chelsea’s academy in 2012 from Brondby and will depart with four major winners’ medals, including last year’s Champions League, in which he played a key role.

Christensen had been involved in contract negotiations with Chelsea over the summer but in October those talks stalled and his future at the club was put in doubt.

Tuchel has confirmed Christensen will join his fellow centre back Antonio Rüdiger — who has signed for Real Madrid — in leaving the club at the end of the season as he admitted those exits make Chelsea’s task of matching the FA Cup winners this summer even more difficult.

“It’s maybe impossible, I have to say, maybe impossible,” Tuchel said. “[Liverpool] are improving their squad in every transfer window they have. It seems like we are losing key players. We are losing, of course, Toni, losing Andreas. So this is tough and we already have a gap to close.”

The Chelsea captain, César Azpilicueta, who is wanted by Xavi Hernández, the Barcelona head coach, could still leave the club despite triggering a one-year extension in his contract due to appearances, while the left back Marcos Alonso is also believed to be interested in a return to Spain.

Tuchel met Todd Boehly, the leader of the consortium buying Chelsea from Roman Abramovich, on Thursday at the club’s Cobham training base, where they had lunch.

Boehly’s £4.25 billion purchase — £2.5 billion of which is for the share purchase, the other £1.75 billion pledged for investment — is expected to go through within a fortnight.

Tuchel said that they were yet to hold discussions over transfer budgets or players Chelsea need, but he believes Boehly’s ambition is in line with that of the Abramovich era at Chelsea.

“He paid some money for it, so I don’t think he is keen to drop the ambition,” Tuchel said. “That would be a big surprise, so no I don’t doubt this. We will share our opinion in more detail over the next weeks and I am sure he is as ambitious to build a competitive Chelsea for the highest level.

“We had lunch together but it was in the room where everybody was, like players and staff. He was very friendly, very open, it was a very informal meeting over lunch. It was like half an hour, 40 minutes, so it was not too detailed.

“It was just to get a feeling and say hello, and we talked more about baseball [Boehley owns the LA Dodgers] and basketball. It was not the moment [to talk about transfers and budgets]. We will do this next week, in the next weeks.”

Boehly is believed to be keen on extending the contracts of the academy products Reece James and Mason Mount, whose decisive penalty kick was saved by the Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson on Saturday. Mount became the subject of social media abuse from some quarters of the Chelsea fanbase after the game.

Tuchel suggested that Chelsea may investigate the abuse of Mount and defended the England international, who has been a key member of his squad again this season, with 13 goals and 16 assists — more than double the second-highest contributor, James. Romelu Lukaku is the top scorer with 15 goals.

“Nothing I can say will stop these guys doing it. I don’t understand social media anyway. It has a huge impact and I don’t get it,” Tuchel said.

“I’m not on social media and it keeps me healthy, more healthy than I would be on it. It’s a very thin ice for everybody who is in such a spotlight to be out there. Of course, abuse is not acceptable, be it here [in person] or on social media. This happens, and if someone thinks he has the right to write it we will not stop him, but maybe we can investigate.

“The penalty will not change nothing on my opinion about Mason. If you see his record and the importance of games that he plays consistently for us, he is a key figure in this squad and club. He is a super nice guy and we don’t start doubting now because he misses a penalty.”

Could do worse. Remember Hicks and Gillette? Two years after Rafa finished second they ran the club bankrupt, hired Roy and had Liverpool in the relegation zone.

Mike Ashley was a dream compared to G+H. Maybe G+H should buy Chelsea.

I just want them to hear him telling them they can't compete with the likes of Newcastle and that the money they pay doesn't pay for anything anyway.

They could form a 'dream' consortium with all three. And Phillip Greene.

I know how Chelsea fans feel at this point and the great news is that I'm confirming the feeling is very unpleasant.
