Ideal would have been for city to lose but a draw means it’s effectively same thing anyway. we have to win 2/2 a defeat or draw means city would still have to win the last game, anything less and we win 2/2 means we win.
If we beat Southampton then we just need to win the last game and City to lose or draw. So we have to go for it at Southampton now.
The team I picked is probably too strong and we'll make more changes than that but I'm torn, we still have a chance at the league so playing a weakened team is a big risk.
I think we might see a little rotation, but after today's result I don't see us fielding a massively weakened side. Imagine if we threw this game then City drew on Sunday?
Yeah that's why it can't be too weak but yes we have to rest some players they were dropping like flies yesterday.
Despite today i think quite a lot of rotation is inevitable after 120 mins on saturday to play on Tuesday is risking injury . my guess would be Allison Gomez , Matip , Konate , Tsimokas Keita , milner , Jones Jota , Firm . Origi
Looks okay that but I'd still play Mane or Diaz. And Hendo actually he's been in and out of the team lately so hasn't played too much.
btw the Saints match thread OP is a tad longer than mine https://www.not606.com/threads/southampton-v-liverpool-tuesday-17th-may-19-45.400560/
It would be nice to spank Saints five or six nil, would set it up for a exciting final day. Obviously eight or nine nil would be better but I've never been greedy... ... here come the predictable fat jokes.
I don't think the goal difference matters now, if they draw or lose and we win it's ours. As long as we beat Southampton.
Exactly. Most of us thought it was over (even though some weren't willing to admit it including myself) after drawing with Spurs. The fact it now looks likely we'll still be in with a chance on the last day of the season is great
Doesnt really matter anymore. Seems unlikely league will be won on Gd as would need us to then draw at home v wolves and city lose to villa. Could happen but you’d get some crazy odds on it. We’d also need a 7 goal swing so if we win by 5, we’d need city to lose by 2
I was one I'm happy to admit. And yeah for this team to play every game possible in a season, winning 2, possibly 3 cups along the way AND take the title to the last day is never been done before stuff. Im just super chuffed this group and manager has added another 2 trophies to its tally... Completing the full set in the process, klopp the 1st Liverpool manager to do so too. What times to be a Liverpool fan
