Sorry, but not good enough! We should take advantage of a side in utter turmoil and we havent and that could come to haunt us come the end of the season...
The most ****ing dodgiest penalty given since the one given against us at Cardiff... you lot get all the decisions Still, good point for you lot...
I don't totally agree. Blackburn have ben playing well recently. They have been unfortunate at times. To say they are in utter turmoil is simply not accurate. Yes, they are not the strogest side in the league, and yes, this is one of those games that we would have targeted to help us get the points we need to stay up, but we showed spirit today and scoring again in injury time might just give them the belief that games are retrievable.
Makes a very pleasant change I have not seen all the game but according to DM we should have had a stone wall penalty earlier in the game so perhaps it balances out this time.
Well, I guess a draw is a fair result. Blackburn will feel hard done by there though, but they sure gave us a game. We just shaded it in terms of chances, we could have done better for all 3 of their goals, and whilst Rovers will complain about the pen I'll point to their earlier handball when they should of had a man sent off and a red card. Bradley Johnson scored from outside, although it was more thanks to the deflection, Morrison scored a huge volley, Samba a diving header, great game. Quickly my thoughts on our XI after I just say well played Blacburn and they're definatley relegation fodder. Ruddy: Did not look good today, and his England cap got a little further away. Handling looked shaky, nearly took a simple catch over the line and let a shot in at the near post when he shouldn't have. Naughton: Ok in defence, ok in attack. Got beaten a few times, but also made some superb tackles. R Martin: Solid most of the game, but I'd say he should of been the one stopping Blackburn's first and third. Barnett: Pretty good, maybe should of stuck closer to Samba for #3. Tierney: Flawless in attack, ok in defence. Johnson: Not that great if I'm honest. Sent several shots miles high/wide as applicable and really lucky to get that goal. Gave the ball away a little too. Fox: Pretty good. Never gave the ball away and his set pieces caused problems. Didn't do so much defending though. Bennett: Frustrating game for him, he did ok but his silly challenge got him booked so he was always going to get subbed. Pilkington: Good game for me, his crossing is sublime, shame no Holt to meet his crosses. Hoolahan: Razor sharp in attack, quick flicks, turns and passes kept Blackburn guessing. Made a real hash of a goal chance though. Morrison: What a goal! Won many headers put in some good crosses, filled in at RB for a second too. Anything and more you could ask for from a lone striker. Subs: Holt: great penalty right in the bottom corner, anything less of been saved. Won the free kick leading up in classic Holt style too. Crofts: Not really enough time to judge didn't anything wrong though. Jackson: Not much doing here, and a half chance on the edge which he got quite wrong although he actually did quite a lot of defending and did it well.
Not against a side in utter turmoil, they've been playing quite well all season without getting results... Edit: and yes, when the game was at 1 - 1 I think it was Johnson had a header which was handled (And it seemed to be deliberate to me) when it was goalbound, so should have been a penalty and a red card for me. But yes Welly, that was a dodgy penalty indeed.
Not impressed with the result today, we've given Liverpool an excellent opportunity to get away from us against West Brom later. These are the games we need to be winning if we're going to continue our charge for european football. ...Maybe not the result we were all looking for 2 hours ago, but before the season started, I'd have been more than happy with a point from Blackburn. They look like they might be beginning to turn things around, but the draw maintains the buffer between us and the relegation zone, especially as most of the other results have gone in our favour. Excellent to see supersub Holt have an impact, and the team being rewarded for refusing to give up until the final whistle. Next couple of games will be tricky, but hopefully a point today, and the result against Liverpool, means they'll play without fear against Villa and Arsenal, and maybe scrape a point before the 6-pointer with QPR. OTBC!
... Not sure what you're on about, maybe you've been drinking or something, but a draw at Anfield is as good a result as when we beat Sunderland/Bolton/Swansea (Hardly top 4 material like Liverpool) and coming from 1 - 3 down is a good result today.
Even the freekick which lead to the "pen" was dodgy, the commentator saying Holt was "cute" and "knew what he was doing" when he went down under the challenge... Fairplay to him (and you lot) though...
Ruddy: Did not look good today, and his England cap got a little further away. Handling looked shaky, nearly took a simple catch over the line and let a shot in at the near post when he shouldn't have. Agreed, probably his worst game in a long, long time. As I said earlier, not seen all the game so is hard to comment in all honesty but again as I said before the defence looked a little lost today. What I also noted was we did not push Blackburn back like we did with Swansea & Sunderland right from the start. Need to get back to doing that to keep them at bay and frustrate the life out of them.
Far too negative. It was not great I am happy to admit but the way we fought back to get the point shows a hell of a team spirit and a never say die attitude. As long as they can keep that up, we can survive I am sure
