2 years ago against Wolves away 1-1.

    We had this team -

    ---------------------Gayle---------------------
    Almiron--M.Longstaff-S.Longstaff--Joelinton
    Willems--Dummett-Clark-Fernandez-Hayden
    -----------------------Dubz-----------------------

 That's a championship quality team.

I think Bruce deserves some credit for keeping us up. I'm glad he's gone, but I don't know if many would do much better with that team.

We needed to spend 90m to get us where we are now.

I think Bruce deserves some credit.

    Firstly, no he ****ing doesn't.

Secondly it clearly isnt a championship team as it stayed up comfortably.

Thirdly the team was rarely like that and the Longstaffs hardly ever played together, and the likes of Saint-Maximum, Shelvey, Schar, Lejeurne etc were in the squad, it was **** all like a championship team.

Steve Bruce kept newcastle up twice and there's no getting away from the fact, so thank goodness for that or we might never have got this takeover.

Exactly. I think he deserves some credit, and I don't think many could have done better.

I'd also like to point out that ASM and Wilson were often injured so don't try to use players like this as evidence that we had a great squad with a crap manager lol.

No. We had a squad that could have quite easily been relegated.

Unfortunately you're wasting your time because you'll get nothing but mental gymnastics rather than people having it within themselves to just credit him where it was due.

The fans said he take us down season 1 - they were wrong and he did better than Rafa Benitez

The fans said he'd take us down season 2 - they were wrong and he did better than Rafa Benitez.

They couldn't just say well done and instead waited for it to inevitably go wrong and then jumped out saying Hah We were right.

The truth is they were wrong for 2 years and then right the 3rd.

Bruce had ****ed things up completely when me left and thank god he was sacked because the bullying had lead to him bitng back... It all got a bit nasty

If you were any more full of **** you'd be a walking sewage works.

You've gone through the season are tried to find what you think is the worst starting XI we had and tried to present this as our regular team, when this team hardly played.

Plus at this point Matty and Sean Longstaff were playing out of their skins and so it makes no sense to try to present them as championship players at this point in time. And in addition Almirion, ASM, Schar, Feds and Willeims were all playing well... The worst players that season were the loanees we brought in ie Bentaleb and Rose.

The team blatantly wasn't championship quality as it survived that year comfortably and had survived comfortably the 2 previous years!

You try to be the dour voice of reason when anyone gets over excited about the future, but then bizarrely you also try to look fondly on one of the lowest and most embarassing times of our recent history when we had to resort to having Steve Bruce as manager. While everyone else looks forward to a bright future with the misery in the past, you seem to live in some backwards universe where you mustn't think too positively about the future but also think the past wasn't that bad!

Or Steve Bruce held Newcastle back for two seasons where with a tactically astute manager we could have done so much better. Take your pick.

No, you're talking **** once again - we hadn't even bought Wilson that season, and ASM played 30 games in the season.

You could say any squad outside the top 10 "could easily be relegated", but the fact is they stayed up comfortably and had done for the 2 previous seasons, so to claim it was a championship squad is utter horseshit.

Just because it survived doesn't mean it was full of prem quality though lol. It had some PL quality in it, but it was a squad that could easily get relegated.

And I came across that line up accidentally, believe it or not. And that line up wasn't purely an isolated incident.

ASM, Wilson, Feds are injury prone, and Longstaffs were playing out their skin because the best CM's we had beside them were Shelvey and Hayden.

Almiron was always a grafter but he was often garbage in the final third which is why he rarely assisted or scored. He was well out of his depth.

After Wilson we had Gayle, who was awful.

So we had some PL quality in it, who were often injured, and had poor back up.

The squad was more championship quality than premier league quality.

LOL it wasn't, but keep getting mad bro.

And us not having Wilson by then only strengthens my point of Bruce deserving credit for keeping us up.

I repeat, Wilson wasnt even at the ****ing club at the point!

Regardless of what your opinion was on the various skill levels of the squad members, the fact that team comfortably finished around mid table for 3 years in a row up to that point clearly shows it was nowhere near a championship squad! The club had been in the championship 3 years before and had romped to the title and had loads of muli-million pound full international signings added to it after that, so it was clearly NOT a ****ing championship team.

No it just strengthens my point that you're talking horseshit, as not only are your arguments ludicrous, theyre factually incorrect.

I disagree, and like I said, Wilson not being in the side only strengthens my point, not weakens it, because without him we had fek all.

It's a side that could have easily been battling relegation.
