I don't think you'll find 2 other clubs in the premier league who love their club as much as we love ours. Is there a day when we aren't thinking and debating about our clubs? No.

Apart from the Al-Fatwah factions of both sides, I don't think there is any real hatred between the fans, except maybe on derby days. After all, there are no social, political or relgious differences, unlike in Glasgow for example.

I think the rivalry is more akin to a family relationship. You don't want anything really bad to happen to your brother, like dying in a plane crash, but it's a good laugh when he steps on a banana skin and falls on his backside.

I think on the whole it is rivalry not hatred up here, there is a big mix of both Newcastle and Sunderland supporters where I live in South Tyneside.
I like to check out the boards of other clubs, especially just before and after we play them and find out what their take is on the game. Some people
will shoot down posters from other clubs and resort to personal insults, or derogatory remarks about your home town, mother , wife etc.
It is a public internet forum we use, if someone from another club thinks we should not visit or post on their board it is wrong. If you enter into a fair debate and are not wumming that's what forums are for, any team playing in the same league as my team has an impact on my club at some point.

just noticed the prem league forum has 52,507 posts which 21,354 posts are on our board <whistle>

then again i think 15,000 of them have been from bartons tash
which can be broken down to

6,000 for his love of barton
    6,000 on formations
2,997 on his hatred of colo and jonas
    3 that make sense
