If the upper levels of the club were working well, we'd see good players coming out of the Academy to help the manager. I can't see that.

Clive still tying himself in knots trying to praise Warburton, whilst pointing out most, but not not all of his failings.
At least he agrees Warburton was thin skinned, struggling with any criticism and stubborn, to the point of completely ignoring agreed club strategies.
Seems a recurring theme wherever he goes.

Surely a load of old tosh as he'll be managing Canada in the World Cup after the season has started !

I assume championship games aren't going to take place during the world cup? So he could feasibly manage us and go with Canada to the world cup without missing a game. No idea if he's any good, mind.

A bit of info/clickbait regarding Eustace on the shortlist for the manager/coach role. How many here would be keen to take him on as manager?

Rather him than some of the deadwood that's been floated about like Sherwood, Campbell and others.....but if the board got rid of Warbs because they "want to go in a new direction" then Eustace surely isn't the man they are after?

I suppose it's down to Eustace to make a case that he has new ideas that it wasn't appropriate for him to implement while he was #2, and that he can continue the bits that Warburton did get right. It's not unheard of - Thomas Frank was #2 at Brentford under Dean Smith before going on to take the #1 job and that didn't prohibit him from making changes.

Eustace presumably has something about him for Swansea and Watford to be chasing him, and for Ireland to want him on their coaching team. I'd be very open to the idea of giving him the job if he can convince Les et al that he can take us forward. Part of the conversation will hopefully be about the 'two competing narratives' we've all read about and making sure Eustace is on the same starting page as SLF and CR.

Signing Eustace who is already on the payroll, who managed us for those few weeks before keeping us up, knows us including the players well, and has turned down other Managial jobs at our level before to stay with us, seems the obvious decision to me. He is probably going to be less expensive than other candidates at his sort of level or above who are already under contract, and more experienced than Manning or other candidates from lower League Clubs. He would give some continuity from Warburton's time and hopefully maintain our style of play, though I feel he would do some things differently as well. Seems he is worth giving a go at any rate.

Not for me , don't know how involved he was in training and picking the side along with Warburton but fear he'd be tainted by his lunacy. Interesting to hear that he made it to the last 2 in Watford's interview process but they liked what the Forest Green manager said more. Eustace had apparently told close friends that the job was his and he only had to turn up at the interview and he would be offered the job ! A fresh start and a clean slate, hopefully with Manning or someone of a similar ilk.

Out of interest, out of our permanent managers since Warnock (Hughes, Redknapp, Ramsey, JFH, Holloway, McClaren, and Warbs) where would you rank Warburton?

Warnock has to be number one, with Warburton second for me , but what a sad bunch.

Good question for all who wanted Warburton gone. I fear we are going to get a poorer manager

I think Warnock first with Warbs a shade behind him. Warbs with a bit of Colin’s fire in his belly might have done a tad better than he did.
