Yes, I’m glad I made the effort.

There’s a lot going on at once, light show, choir, electronic music and poetry, all at the same time, but it was impressive.

Nicely accessible too with sign language interpreter and words on a couple of the small screens.

Easily worth £30m a night :bandit:

Presumably we'd all be paying for this if it was somewhere else anyway , so at least we get a chance to see it

Anyway enough of this thread, I’m right, you’re wrong, if you went to the Brexit type festival and enjoyed it, great, I can guarantee it was no We Are Hull show, cos that was fantastic, and even though Martin Green was involved then and this week, be hard to beat 2017, saw Martin Green at the Holy Holy, David Bowie thing at City Hall. Very arrogant I thought.

Anyway I digress, Dave Lee wrote a play, When Rembrandt came to Hull, it didn’t get funding, prob because they threw £120m at a **** light show, anyway Dave Lee is a local film maker, food critic and all round good sort, it would have been another The Hypocrite, which was brilliant.

Thats a reason enough why I’m so anti Brexit bollocks.

Was on at Wrecking Ball wasn’t it? (The Dave Lee Rembrandt thing)
I’ve sat next to Martin Green at a meal / event / thing. Didn’t find him arrogant really, but he is pretty sure of himself…to be fair he probably deserves to be.
Did seem to genuinely like Hull and Hull people though.

Was the content better than Made in Hull? No
The moment the trawlers went down and the bodies sank made me cry.

Was it technically better than Made in Hull? Yes. As usual things move on. The images were clearer & the sound was better

I’m saying the We are Hull show on Jan 1st 2017, was the best light show Hull will ever experience,
Yeah I cried, shame about the Dave Lee thing, I would like to see that, Martin was giving it the big un at the Bowie thing, snogging his boyfriend, generally dancing like a twat, but hey ho, each to their own.

The We Are Hull is Hull so can’t be bettered IMO, but accept tech moves on, 5 years is a long time.

I had someone behind me say to a kid “that’s your granddad” at that point, and my eyes leaked too.

Does anyone know if there is anything special/interesting being organised in or around Hull for the Jubilee weekend? Particularly on the Thursday?

We're rebuilding Beverley Gate and cleaning Victoria's statue which sits above public bogs, music supplied by the Sex Pistols. :emoticon-0100-smile
