What will be will be Thanks to Marcelo for some lovely football which was a joy to watch. What really happened to this season I don’t know neither in my opinion do a lot of people, Marcelo went like a sacrificial lamb love to here his side of the story unfortunately for the fans Marcelo is a very private person who keeps his thoughts to himself. With regards to Jesse only time will tell I’ve no axe to grind with him at the moment, so best of luck to him. I would however remind everyone that as soon as Radrizzani bought the club it became common knowledge that he was looking for a partner to invest in the club (says it all to me) The next window will tell us where we really are and what the future holds. I think Gessa has it about right in his post above.
I don't believe anybody would pay 40-50 million for him after the second half of the season he has had. Ramsdale went for 20 million rising to 30 million last summer to Arsenal. English keepers always go for more money. I think 20 million would be somebody's price. As long as we stay strong and ask for 40 million we'll be fine. If they pay it, it's a great price. He's still a rookie keeper and I'd like to think that the club would say "give us one more season and then you can go with our blessing!". I'd be quite upset if Phillips pushed for an exit tbh. He has let us down massively this season with performances and absences. I think he owes us a season as does Bamford.
Anyone seen the headline on BBC sports website: BBC sports journalist walks out of Scotland Sports Writers Dinner. Apparently 2 tables of women footballers (I say footballers loosly) got upset because of one of the after dinner speakers said some jokes, which these non footballers said were homophobic, racist mysogonistic…….. what a load of bollox. Women want to be recognised as footballers but in my opinion will never be footballers, they play a version that I have no interest in watching. We give women in our mens football a massive presence as commentators, pundits, journalists and 95% of them talk bollox. But now women are allowed at sportsmans dinners and complain about jokes. Just fk off
KP gave us that season when he rejected Aston Villa. He’s 26, an England international and it’s a World Cup year. He won’t stay if we’re relegated, I don’t think we can have any complaints if he doesn’t. Now, if we happen to survive I’d like to think he’d give us at least one more season.
is it called observatory because they’re all high as kites? Same site has kp at eur 10-15m! stick to transfermarkt: meslier £18m, Phillips £45m Clearly sides will pay over the odds for players but as a baseline they seem a bit nearer the mark to me.
He did . I'm happy if the club decides to let him go and have his career and we take the money to rebuild. I know it's a long shot, but maybe, just maybe he feels he owes it to us after being missing all season. Same with Bamford. I remember listening to Gerry Taggart on a podcast. He was talking about the season Leicester were relegated (early 2000's) when they had a season from hell. The club got the squad together and told then if they committed to a year in the Championship then the prize money for reaching the PL would be shared amongst the players and staff at the club. However, in the mean time they had to take massive wage reductions in order to keep other emoyees in jobs. Basically if they won, they would get obscene amounts of money. If they failed, they would have earned less for a season but would be allowed to leave to chase their dreams. The players agreed, they won the Championship the year after and earnt themselves fortunes. I kinda guess that this squad owes us after this season.
based on his shot stopping only (his strength) he was 13th rated keeper in the pl last year and 19th this year. That’s based on xg against stats so I’m not saying it’s definitive but you do find the best keepers at the top of the pile using it. he’s great for his age, so someone might pay north of 30m for potential but think his distribution wards off the top clubs. but hey like everyone, he’s worth what someone will pay for him
