Title race looks over now. Liverpool effectively need to gain 4 points in 3 games which I just can't see happening.
But we always snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. How many points from a lead have we thrown away? A lead ? I remember those. I have followed Saints for too long to know that if there is a way to make a disaster worse, then we will find it.
I have never wanted to win a game more all year. Come on saints!! Let's go for a hell Mary and destroy Liverpools chance of winning the title!!
What we do from this point forward is irrelevant, unless we invent a way to get -5 points in a match.
3 could well be enough depending on what they beat us by? Irrelevant really though as I don't see City losing a game.
People are assuming Liverpool will thrash us but it would be typical Saints after a horrendous run to turn in an inspired performance and win 1-0 (not saying that will happen btw).
Yeah I agree and should it be over by then it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if we nicked something. Just meant that if City were to lose before then then Liverpool could easily overtake on GD again.
Actually good point. If City did lose it would take it down to +3 difference at least which isn't that much.
Its pretty remarkable that Saints are just 1 win and a draw of the top 10 finish and two wins clear of the relegation positions. This must be one of the tightest divisions in recent memory. I've seen plenty of people mention the job Eddy has done and Newcastle as an example of what we could achieve if we got rid of Ralph but not a lot of discussion around the 120m pounds that was spent. I'd find it hard to imagine us being in this position now if we had done the same.
I think it will ultimately go wrong at Newcastle. The question is how quickly. The expectaion levels must be ridiculous now. They will struggle to break in to the Top Four and can realistically be anticipating a cup win and perhaps a place in one of the lesser European competitions. I remain to be convinced thar Howe is ultimatel the manager to take them to the next level.
Hope Chelsea turn up tomorrow vs Leeds. FAC final Saturday but hopefully they will also be looking over their PL shoulder at Arsenal. A Leeds win & we are really in trouble.
Massive game for Leeds PL survival Vs a game that Chelsea willl just want to get through unscathed, with as little effort as possible and are likely to rest players for since the FA Cup Final is a few days later is the overwhelming priority. Not to mention Chelseas form is ropey anyway. Leeds will be well up for it, their fans will be well up for it, especially being at home. This one has Leeds win written all over it unfortunately just to make life more uncomfortable for us, as if it wasn't already painful enough supporting this team over the last few months!
'IF' Leeds lose tomorrow, I am pretty confident we are ok. If they win and Burnley win on Sunday we are in eh **** lol and I will win another bet after being unlucky for so long.
Just got 10/1 on Ings scoring first……surprisingly high odds I thought considering Villa are the home team.
