Ive seen Thomas play numerous times and he looks totally out of his depth. Some of our 1st team dont look up to the championship standard either. Football is all about opinions as you mentioned in another post earlier. Hopefully any new incoming gaffer has the opinion that some of these youngsters deserve a crack and they may turn out to be good enough, or even better than good enough.
They were not available but I would seriously have given one of the two u23 forwards (Armstrong or Kargbo) a go in the last few matches (what I mean by that is on the bench for 5 or 6 matches, cameo appearances for 15-20 minutes in a few matches. However, they are not available to do that. The explanation really is that no one expected us to be so out of contention (not getting 7 wins out of 18 matches) at this point, that it was considered. Armstrong has now scored important goals in two consecutive matches 11 appearances 4 goals is OK
Agree about Thomas. Yes, gotta hope a few will be good enough next season. If all the getting experience at lower League Clubs works one or two should be, Masterson in particular. Bettache and Duke- McKenna looked like they could be good earlier when they played a bit in the first team. There was a young LWB too who got a game, or maybe came on as a sub, and looked tidy, but I can't remember his name. Armstrong too of course.
Just seen a pic of Armstrong in West London article - he looks a ‘unit’. Interesting article. Wonder if we’ll be able to keep him if he keeps his focus and desire to succeed. ( https://www.westlondonsport.com/qpr...rtons-exit-and-targeting-qpr-first-team-place )
Good to see he is training with our first team at Harlington while playing for Aldershot and having 24 hours with them around these games, and says watching and learning from the likes of Austin and Gray is a huge help. He also got advice from Warburton about his movement, thought he'd done a good job for the Rangers and is sorry to see him go. This one story doesn't reflect what Dave Mac wrote about lack of communication within the different parts of the Club.
If he comes good then he will be gone after a couple of seasons if we're lucky .we are a selling club.
Unfortunately, his second stint didn’t finish as well as the first. Thanks for your effort Charlie and best wishes for the future.
Is it strange you wouldn't give the new manager a say in this? What if someone comes in and we start to play more to a natural striker's strengths i.e. actually getting some service into the box. We've got one striker now, yikes.
Surely money, sports biometrics, and Charlie Austins own feeling...come into this. Got to expect Charlie to be one of the highest earners, if not the top earner ( I read at the start of the season, he was at the top of our wage scale and was getting a bit extra on top as a coach). Charlie obviously couldn't play 70-90 minutes twice a week which is what is needed in the Championship... That is the problem...I love Charlie...and so glad he scored a typical goal on Friday for us to remember...I expect him to do the same this weekend too.... but time catches up. Charlie, Charlie-Charlie, Charlie-Charlie, Charlie Austin
Has been a great striker for us and a real QPR player at heart. He will always be up there as one of the modern football legends at HQ. Great that he was able to bow out graciously. Could tell both Charlie and Bianca had a soft spot for the club. I’m sure he will be popping in for some games in the future. Thanks Charlie for everything. My only regrets are he had to wear the thin hoops and verbal on social media from stupid ‘fans’. Enjoy the years ahead Charlie.
Total respect for Charlie, ok disappointing season by his standards but he’s a box man & not one of these players that run around & chasing, the service into him & other strikers has been abysmal to say the least, put the ball in there & nine times out of ten he will score, I wish him & family well for the future
It's a good point Frome. I've read we will not be appointing a new Manager but a "Head Coach". So I guess for now at least Ferdinand is making these contractual decisions perhaps with approval from above, and possibly a new Head Coach won't get as much of a say in these kind of decisions as Warburton had. How acceptable that would be to the new man is something else.
Dom Ball and Lee Wallace being released as well. In talks with Uncs and Barbet (if I was him I'd be telling them to stuff it but I hope they work something out). Shodipo and Charlie Owens being offered new deals too. https://www.westlondonsport.com/qpr...-say-they-are-in-talks-with-barbet-and-adomah
Dykes, Bonne, Kelman...thats three! We seriously need to have the new man in charge very soon to sort out the players he wants going forward. The new season begins on July 30th.
If it is to be Manning then no way will MKD allow for it to be public knowledge before their season is completed.
Well they're 2:0 down already after the first leg, so might only be one more game left for them.....which would make us a more attractive prospect for him rather than another season in L1
