    Thought so.

Consistency of rules being applied to different incidents. Thats like saying that any crash at all is a penalty. They are all individually different. Lewis admited to the mistake while Jenson clearly lifted.

"I saw the tyre marks and the smoke but I was already in the yellow flag zone," he said. "I backed off [afterwards]. We'll see what happens."

So its okay to lift off after afterwards?

I'm sure Silver would have something to say about that.

So what you are saying is that Button should be penalised because he did not had the foresight to predict Massa would crash and be able to slow down beforehand.

    Don't be daft.

Button was behind Massa so had seen the accident happen. Had plenty of time to 'lift' but it seems from what he said he lifted after the scene of the crash and is awaiting to see what the stewards are going to say about it.

Where does he say he lifted off afterwards? He says he lifted and you (or someone else) has added the [afterwards] part to manipulate what was said.

So what if he saw Massa crash, he saw it so he knew Massa was out of the way. The fact he saw Massa makes no difference, he has to react to the yellow flags though in case there's another hazard, which he says he did. The stewards will use his telemetry to verify or disprove that and act accordingly.

You're inventing scenarios to try and back up a perceived injustice against the driver you (presumably) support. But it isn't there, he breaks the rules, he's punished. No conspiracies, no prejudice.

Was a direct quote from teh beeb website.

I thought you knew me better than to maninpualte and change statements.

I agree what you say about the stewards interpretting the telemetry. I have already stated that.

However, it is not up to him to decide if Massa's car was out of the way. Silver has already alluded that flags are there to warn drivers and protect marshalls and that was the reason for Hamilton's penalty as he did not do anything to suggest he had seen or acknowledged the flags. If Jenson lifted after the accident, I can;t see how that is a justifable excuse.

As for invetning sceanrio's, I see a lot more being invented against Hamilton than for him across the year.

Is it now an offence to defend a driver when all others do their best to hunt him down?

Because Button was right behind Massa he was in the yellow flag zone immediately, saw that he was and backed off. What is the problem?

From the cockpit you can see dust go up from way off the track - then 1 second later Button's on it - no yellows visible.
As he arrives at the scene you can see YELLOW sign after the site !! Fat lot of good that is. IMO he should not be penalised.
AND he got a slower lap as a result of slowing AFTER the incident site.

I did put "or someone else" in brackets. <ok>

That's not an excuse for ignoring a yellow, but you can't say he should've slowed down when he saw Massa go off because he could see Felipe was out of the way. Obviously when he sees the yellows he has to back off in case there's a marshall/another car/stray dog on the circuit, but he says he did this. This will obviously be investigated because he went green in the final sector, but his first lap was terrible so he could easily have backed off and gone faster.

If he lifted after the crash then he should get the penalty, but if he saw it before and lifted at the scene then he has done nothing wrong since he "slowed down" Yellow is different to double waved yellows since nobody is on the track yet.

    Simple enough:

Single yellow: Careful, incident ahead, no overtaking slow down etc...

Double yellows: Danger people on the track, tread carefully and maybe go to a full stop if required.

JB should not be penalised, you could see he was bricking it after his lap in the interview.
Well done RB particularly Vettel... again.
Hamilton will be starting next to his best friend Massa, I cannot wait to see what happens there tomorrow.
    Mercedes looking **** once again.
Torro Rosso surprised me with their positions today, I am happy for them.
Lotus and HRT are looking better than ever.

7th with Rosberg behind the big 3 is all they could ever wish to get. I'd say they performed exactly where they should be.

Nico said he could have aimed higher, which is more than can be said in Michael's side of the garage, hopefully the outside line on the straight (for the top 12 drivers will be cleaner), so there might be some good get aways.
    :afro:
Apparently his tyre checking equipment was held up in customs, costing him a top ten finish in qualifying because there was not a thorough check of the new Pirelli tyres which were faulty before Q1, what a joke.
