Yes and because Pep has this weird aura about him that has managed to stick since that admittedly golden era at Barca when he was lucky enough to inherit the best generation of footballers La Masia has ever produced, he is immune to criticism. He failed at Bayern and as much as the pundits hate to admit it, relatively speaking he is failing at City too.
His city team play good football BUT when you inherit Debruyne, Fernandinho, Silva, Aguero, Kompany and Stirling...then spend just under a billion pounds in just 6 years and still not win the one trophy that you were brought it in to win then you are ultimately a failure. His spending is unprecedented and without it he wouldn't have dominated in the Premier League but even then they are struggling to stay ahead of Liverpool.
He plays a beautiful brand of football, can’t take that away from him. But Barca with Messi, Iniesta, Xaxi etc, Bayern and then City… it’s not as if he’s done the unthinkable with these teams, they are/ all primed to win stuff. The fact he’s not won the CL in 11 years is damning when looking at who he’s managed. Said on our board multiple teams I think Klopp’s a comfortably better manager. Bloke’s a massive prick but he builds brilliant teams.
You won’t like this but Prime Rafa wins that game for City (I am a Jose fan btw) In fact I think most managers across the world win that game cause not one of us would have took off De Bruyne
And NO ONE still in that commentary team has mentioned his fck up tonight with the KDB sub. It's unreal. He gets a pass from the pundits. I used to admire his attacking style but he's disappeared up his own arse. I watch him in certain games and I don't think he actually enjoys the game like he used to 10 years ago.
Commentator jinxed it, was I the only one that heard him? He goes, Real Madrid have not had a shot on target all game, I'm like ffs....boom.....then boom again, fook off you tosser.
I only disagree with the first part. Regardless of who won, which team played the more enjoyable brand of football in both legs? For me, it was Real Madrid. I'd take Carlo's brand of footie over Pep's (and Klopp's for that matter) every day of the week.
I think Mancini and Pellegrini winning the League for them is more of an achievement than Pep winning it three times and getting 100 points in one season. Pep was brought in to win the Champions League and no less. He’s failed. I don’t see him being at Man City much longer, though I don’t know who could replace him.
Neil Warnock wins that game for City too. Pep plays 4 dimensional chess against himself and loses, again.
I expect City to roll their sleeves up now and win the rest of their league games it’s what they do or will this shatter them mentally and they flop in a game or two and hand it to the Pool?
