    Hello,

    not too sure if anybody listens to talk sport as religiously as i do, and to Alan brasil in th mornings but yesterday he mentioned that newwcastle ... "had signed a new striker today, A French guy we've been chasing for a while"

    Hes not really got anything to gain by spurting out rubbish rumours, just wondering if id missed something ?! Cant find any news about it

    A few people in the last few weeks have claimed to have spoken to Llambias and he has apparently said Maiga is a done deal. Couldn't tell you how much truth is in that though.

    aparently maiga and de jong are the priority targets with maiga costing around 7-8 mill and de jong bein 10mill+ sow and papisse cissa are secoundry targets but would set us back 12mill +

    Although a new striker is a priority, I'm more worried about a new CB.

    I think they are of equal importance as Ba will be going to ACON in January, although 3 of the 4 apparent targets are also African.

    Despite ACON, Sow is the man I would want - could link up again with Cabaye and is Ba's international teammate (as is Cisse - some attack they have there!). Sow was the top scorer in the French league last year and whilst he would cost a lot, I think he is worth it.

    Gignac ? He's been pretty sloppy for a season apparently, not tio sure how good he would be . Sow would be good but I doubt we'd get him unfortunately.

    I'd be pretty happy if it was Gignac to be honest, I've liked him for ages. Fulham were after him weren't they? And he was all set to join them until something happened and they got Ruiz instead.

    But not someone we've been chasing for a while is it? I'd said Maiga or Erding are the ones we've been chasing.

    Love it to be Cisse, but too much unfortunately :(

    Nah I'm not overly keen either, just chucked him in the mix as he was a frenchman we were looking at for a while!
